i was so confused when i saw cassie saying about the "letter game" on insta stories or on Twitter, not sure where. but when i saw on christine's insta page the letters, i got so invested after reading the first one haha

Have you guys seen the The Chain of Iron Book Trailer? It mentions an unshakeable love becomes a hideous lie and a betrayal. Who do you think is being betrayed and who do you think is the traitor? Whose love could it mean when it says the love became a lie?

SOOOO i've seen people getting a boxes on instagram with a chain of iron arc and on the box there ws this quote "you never forget your first betrayal" ahh what the hell is that supposed to mean?!?! *cries*
who betrays who?? please tell me james and lucie dont end up betraying annoying. im not that worried about cordelia since she is very loyal as seen in cog, but im more worried about James and lucie bc of their connection to belial
I am too!! I think someone very close betrays them but I'm having a high doubt that the betrayal will be Tatiana's since she HAD allied with Belial against her own heritage/shadowhunters
There is a slight chance that it is Cordelia because she has worn loyalty to a dangerous power. She could betrayed someone because of her oath to the mysterious power.
I think the love turn into lies could be Cordelia and James. Cordelia and James' marriages is a lie .

i feel like this is a lot about matthew and it coudl be lucie too since she does keep a lot of secrets from cordelia... but it could also kinda be anyone since all characters keep a lot of secrets...

I have a theory that the killer could be a Shadowhunter, but they are not working alone and is working with someone else who really is mostly in charge of the killing.

Well I guess I'm gonna do an analysis like you did to get my brain working..

As some of you have mentioned, it doesn't make sense for this to be Cordelia and James since James doesn't know he loves her, and since their marriage is a lie. So.. Lucie and Jesse? This is supposed to be Lucie's book, her being on the cover suggests she'll have a larger role, and if Jesse gets resurrected but isn't himself, could it be considered a lie? Or what if Lucie does something awful to get him back, and doesn't tell him? Could this be the lie?

For me my brain went James and Matthew right away. I think the Merry Thieves in general will have difficulty when James and Matthew both reveal their secrets to them.

for the killer, I think James is too obvious if he thinks it's him. I also think there's more than one, in the terms that Belial is definitely behind some of the killings, but Cordelia's oath may have her do something bad. And Tatiana needed 5 shadow hunters dead to get Jesse back... so what if Lucie figures this out and takes things into her own hands?
again, betrayal I think definitely has something to do with Jesse, but also someone they really trust.... another adult perhaps?
I just strongly think the betrayal could be Tatiana's since she will be betraying the Shadowhunters.but the second strong theory is definitely the secrets between James and Matthew. that's a very strong.
and thanks for telling me it's in the synopsis. I tried to get it out of my mind and didn't read it again so idk anything when I go into this book :)

seriously? who has a That Long friendship? I honestly can't think on it. the best friendship we know is Will and Jem and they're very honest and loyal to each other.
we also have to take into consideration that at the end of chain of gold in the epilogue belial says that jesse carries something important, that cod tie some way or another with thsoe lines.... wait could maybe jesse betray Tatiana? like she is still his mother... or maybe could lucie go to tatiana to help her ressurect jesse.. but she hates the herondale so she wouldnt accept her help
*screams* ok ok, we still have to wait 3 weeks for this to come out and then soem of our question will be answered... and then we will have to wait anither excruciatingly long year for chain of thorn
Maybe the merry thieves as a whole? Since the cousins have been friends their entire life. It could be Lucie and Cordelia but I feel ithey both have secrets that they can understand
Cordelia's secret is the only one that is understandable and Matthew's. whatever these Herondale siblings are keeping as secrets from their parabatai/future parabatai are really big.I mean, maybe for you grace-let isn't that big but it is for me and resurrection is small thing.

I felt that was quite obvious in the first book. Like, ridiculously obvious. They have these vibes.
And about the betrayal discussion, I just wish everybody would stop keeping so many secrets from their closest friends. That would make our lives so much easier😂

I was just talking about it with my friend and we both just said the same. it better NOT be James.he told Cordelia in chain of gold that once he makes a promise, he keeps it. so, I hope he KEEPS IT!
also, I was wishful thinking it might be Matthew sharing with one of the merry thieves or Cordelia or Lucie that he kissed Grace but the today made me give up on that thought.
