So it starts off with this girl going missing. The girl missing is this popular girl that MC seems kind of jealous of. The main character seems obsessed with her disappearance and meets the boyfriend of hers at the restaurant she works at I believe? They get chatting and become friends and are kind of flirting but MC kind of turns the girl's death into a make believe story.

She makes up theories like "what if she's a werewolf? O.O" and they try to hunt her down in the woods I think? Basically they mock her being missing and when they realize they like each other they have sex I think? Or almost do. But they're in bed together at some point. Then the popular girl is found hanging in the woods by suicide. The guy breaks up with MC and is like "This is too real for me. It isn't a story anymore." and yeah. I think they search her old yearbooks and they have her looking like a whole different person? Like a goth in one image and someone else in another? It ends with MC just being like "Wow. Idk why she killed herself but that's just how life goes" or whatever. Hated this book.

YA, I believe. I read it around 2018 or 2019??? Library book. The book didn't seem really old and used normal language.

I also think the cover may have been yellow but I might be totally off.
