Does the Amazon catalog auto-sync, or are all new books added manually?

I've just published my first book. I've read through the guidelines on adding a new book, but if I published on Amazon (kindle) will the book automatically be added to Goodreads? I couldn't find my book when I searched and it's been published for a week.

There are import processes that run periodically. You can add the book if it's not here yet, but it is vitally important to include the ASIN if you do. Otherwise the importer will not recognize that the book is already here and will create a duplicate.

Thanks, Scott. Do you know how often that process runs? I'd like to make sure it links across neatly. Is adding a record manually exactly the same? Thanks for the tip about the ASIN, I'll be sure to get that.

I don't think anybody here really knows when it runs. Yes, adding the book manually is essentially the same.

The import process runs continuously. How items are chosen to import is a mystery.

You can claim your author profile by clicking on this link to go to the application for the Paul Bendor-Samuel author profile page. (This is different from your reader profile page.)

After the staff has completed their review, they will upgrade your current reader profile to an author account and send you an email confirmation. This might take a few business days, depending on staff workload, so please be patient.

Once your claim is processed, you will be able to make certain changes to your books, including combining different editions of the same book. You'll also have the ability to choose which edition will be the default—that is, the one that comes up in searches by title and shows on your author profile.
