Angelique Lokeni-Toilolo | 1 comments POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD: I'm looking for a book I read sometime between 2012 and 2014. It was a compilation of stories that were essentially modernized/twisted fairy tales. I can't for the life of me remember the author or title, and only one story from the book still sticks out in my head. Essentially, the premise was similar to Pinocchio, but with an experimental robot who gained human consciousness and developed a relationship with one of the researchers in charge of monitoring this robot for the experiment. HERE IS WHERE SOME SPOILERS COME IN. For the purpose of giving more detail to anyone who might know or remember this book, I'll tell the end of the Pinocchio based story since its one of the only ones I remember from that book, though there were others in it as well. Essentially, Robot Pinocchio starts to develop human emotions and falls in love with the researcher in charge of him. One day the researcher is given the choice to allow him to essentially become human, but she runs the risk that if she does allow him to be human, he may lose all of his memories and no longer love/remember loving her (basically a hard reboot). In the end she choses to make him human and he shows he does remember her at the end of the story by saying her name once the reboot is done. There were more stories in this book but I can really only remember this one somewhat clearly, it's been at least 8 years so some of it might be a little off, but if anyone has any idea what this book is it would really do wonders for my sanity haha.
