Remember how moderators chose it last spring, but it wasn't widely available so we switched to something else.
My copy came in today, I think actually from India!

Funny that even though we have more time to read but I still find myself behind almost everything ;p

Is it bad that I haven't quite started yet? 🤦🏽♀️

@Gabi: I found it difficult trying to balance my mood, languishing TBR and the packet. And this year my reading has diminished so...yeah. I'll just see what I am actually interested to read from the packet. In the previous years I did try to read/skim everything including the fan categories.
This year's shorts and novelettes are pretty awesome, by the way.

This is my first year voting and I don't know how anyone normally gets through the packet in the normal time frame! :-P So far I've read all the novels, novellas, novelettes, and short stories. I'm still working on the series and graphic stories. I decided to give up on the Lodestar category. YA just really, really isn't for me. I've watched all the dramatic categories.
What is your philosophy about voting in categories where you don't read (or otherwise consume) everything in it? Do you only vote if you've read everything? What about series? I'm thinking I'll just try to read the first book in all the series, but I'm not sure that's really fair. And there are some video games that I don't even have the right console to play. So should I just skip that category or vote for the ones I can play? 🤔

I only rank the ones I read in the ballot. If I happen to read only one or two nominee out of five for example, I'd still put it in the ballot if I think it's a four-star or five-star read, e.g. the Astounding & Best Series categories.
I don't vote for/rank a series if I have yet to read the ones in the packet.
This year I will definitely skip some categories again. Video game for sure, then editor for long form and fan stuff. Lodestar too, I don't have time to read them. Sadly I would have to skip the podcast one this year.
My targets now are graphic works + artists (those don't take much time), and semiprozines+editor short form (it's basically a package).

I know I've downloaded my packet, but for the life of me, I can't remember where I filed it. Or what I called it. 🤦🏽♀️

LOL that happens
Anyway I am finished with the graphic novel category now. I think my faves are still Monstress & Parable of the Sower. I am supposed to be reading the short form editors now but I am finding myself swamped with BRs again - this year I suck at scheduling.

you certainly can! we have a game night tonight so you could watch and report to us too, if playing isn't of interest

cool cool cool!
And I am so happy now because Chengdu won the bid for the 2023 WorldCon so finally I could go to one after my last year's plan got cancelled *dancing*

Thank you!

My record is better this year for the big four, 1 out of 4, since Nghi Vo won the best novella. Truly, well deserved.

How many of your number 1 pick won?

Hey I also only got three: Novella, Graphic Novel, and Dramatic Presentation Short Form. I wish I had time to read the editors stuff.
Super sad Simon Jimenez did not win the Astounding one.

On a brighter note: Adrian Tchaikovsky won Sidewise Award on worldcon (not sure I've heard of this before ...)

First time I ever heard about it as well. Annalee won for The Future of Another Timeline but for 2019. Aaand is this typo deliberate? https://twitter.com/worldcon2021/stat...
