Searching for a novel about hunting some beast

Hi there, I am searching for a novel depicting a hunting game between a clever hunter and a dangerous beast. It could be something like the novels of jim corbett. But they were more realistic. I mean I want similar thing in fiction. Like prey can be a fictional creature or it can be some clever human being.

Is there any story like that? I haven't read a lot of fiction so if anyone can tell me about such novel?
