I am too! :D I just hope I'll be able to follow the plan because lately I've been listening to books less and therefore consuming less books.

So.. I'm not able to follow the plan 😅
I hadn't started it yesterday so I'm already behind. And today I only managed the first 3 chapters.

I don't have much to comment. I like Graham and Zoe, they are adorable. Lana's love interest seems interesting. I like Lana's mother when they had that video chat at the end of chapter 3.. I thought she was some cold lady but surprise :D

Amelia (whatameliareads) | 268 comments Don’t worry at all I’m in the same position. I’ve not been well for a while now but sometimes it catches up with me and I can’t do anything. But I’m making some small progress now and have almost finished chapter 3 now.

I like Lana and Rick too, pool was good introduction to them for this book. Kind of surprised Land’s hand didn’t come up in the first one but makes sense if she hides it. Also makes sense In terms of Zoey or the hotel always doing her makeup for her in the first book.

I’m finding the “Santa moose” ridiculous and am very ready and expecting for it to turn out to be something else - like a kid or raccoons? Is what wildlife they have but just something.

Hope you'll feel better!
I think I'm gonna go slow on this one too. I listen to it when I go to work and come home, which should be around 2h of audio. I don't know how much in chapters/pages is. If things go like that every day I should be done with it by the end of the week.

Atm, I'm somewhere in the middle of chapter 5 when race car Killian comes to Moose Springs.

I forgot about Roger the cat and the hedgehog! I love it, so cute.
It makes sense that we didn't know about her shaking hands because as you said she hides it, but also this book is more her while the first one was Zoe. And yes maybe it could've been mentioned in Z's book but then again she was the MC so we didn't need some more personal things about other characters.

The Santa moose is ridiculous. I find it silly, it gives me strong cozy mystery vibes because how it sounds... actually, that reminds me of the part in book one when Zoe got arrested, that one was ??? too and even more. And it would be awesome if something else besides a moose is the "Santa Moose".

Amelia (whatameliareads) | 268 comments I hope so too, I will definitely be slow with it as my grandfather died this morning. I think I’ll need the distraction so will get what reading I can do done and let you know as I go.

I got to half of the book, and I'm at the beginning of chapter 8 only a few pages in.
I don't know if I'm not really in the mood but I'm not feeling much while reading. They are cute, but I also don't care much about them.

Amelia (whatameliareads) | 268 comments Thank you x

I read chapters 4 - the beginning of 8 last night and I'm enjoying it a lot more than before but also am definitely not as invested in this one as I was in Graham and Zoey. So if you haven't got that far this might have spoilers.

I listened to part of it while driving and got mad at the audiobook that pronounced Graham like american's pronounce the cracker like "gram"

I also forgot about the cat and hedgehog - so cute!

I absolutely cannot stand Silas. He is so so rude, yes you need to have a business conversation but you do not need to have it in front of the person you're talking about. He was just so rude in general.

I knew from the moment they set out on the stake out for the santa moose that something was going to happen and I was not disappointed! Poor Rick 😂

Having stayed somewhere similar in Wales, I can feel the horror of the squirrel b&b.

Amelia (whatameliareads) | 268 comments As I hit post, your comment appeared, and we're at the same place in the book.

I agree, I just don't feel the relationship between them like I did the others in the first book.

I hadn't listened today because it was raining this morning when I was going to work and when I was returning home I had stuff in my hands so *shrugs* and probably won't because I have to start another BR book. If nothing else I could try binging it tomorrow if I have the time.

The stay at the B&B was definitelly the best part of the book for me. I was grinning like an idiot while listening to that part. With that being said... they started to annoy me.

Everything is about Rick getting turned on/loving by what Lana's doing and vice versa. If there had been more to the story except them liking each other from the start and thinking how one another looks amazing it would've been more enjoyable but...

And the whole Santa Moose thing.. I know it's like the second story to the main story, but while I was listening to chapter 10 I was thinking what was with that she's supposedly "hunting" the moose but she hasn't done ANYTHING about it so..

Hey,
So I apparently listened yesterday to chapter 12. but I also don't remember much of it so I had to re-listen.. and even before the re-listening I really had to make myself pick it up because by this point 78% into the book things haven't developed much.

They are together but they are still "oh, he/she is so amazing, this part of him/her makes me feel *something something*" and it started to dangerously annoy me because everything is flat. Even the parallel stories with the.. the things she's trying to build and the Santa Moose that should be more part of the story are pushed aside for them to be "cute" (they were, still are to some extend for me, but like I sad started to annoy me).

With all that being said, I'm going to DNF the book. I don't have much time to read this month and who knows for how long either, and I don't want to make myself read something that isn't giving me nice feelings even though I have less than 100 pages till the end. Although, the B&B scene with the squirrels when they get a room was super funny.

So what are your thoughts?
And please reveal me the Santa Moose things. Did she finally catch it? And was it really a moose? If yes, was it that Dude moose, because it was mentioned a few times how the Santa Moose disappears by going onto the road.. and the Dude moose likes walking on the road.

Amelia (whatameliareads) | 268 comments I completely agree with you about the not actually hunting the moose thing! Also yes, the B&b stay was one of my favourite scenes - another happens later.

Yeah if I didn't have such a thing about getting so far into a book and then not giving up I probably would of stopped but I'm kinda glad I didn't. With the whole liking each other with no actual relationship plot I feel it picked up later on (they visit Lana's family for an emergency in Chicago and end up at Zoey's nans) which eventually causes conflict. Apart from that it was super super flat with way too many sub-plots that weren't followed through on - like the santa moose.

The moose was actually a random moose! It showed up at Rick's place and she walked outside and just came to face to face with it at the end! completely random and non-hunter-ey but it left and she called Rick from inside and they followed it but that wasn't written out just inferred from dialogue.

Such a shame as the first book was wonderful with the tension and realistic arguments and relationship building.

Wow.. The moose part is so disappointing!

I don't like that I got to 78% and want to DNF it, and if I had time I probably would've pushed to finish it. But I have little time to throw it away for something that should make me feel nice and fluffy but doesn't :/

I liked the first book so much, and this was just... disappointing. Honestly, I'm hesitant to pick up the third book, and I don't know if I actually will.

Either way, thanks for BRing with me :D
