The story was about a band of hired thieves with a young male ringleader. The group was made up of several people with special talents. A quiet, shy boy could control/make living things and plants and he had a pet tarantula named Rose. This boy would be hired as a landscaper for the queen/royalty. Another girl was able to make things explode/had a talent for explosives. She came from a sketchy background. The ringleader was a young male that was a part of a Fallen society. One of the members was super book smart and is the brother of the ringleader, and there was an obsession with bees. There were a couple more within the group with similar abnormal skills, but I cannot remember them. The general plot was the group trying to find a relic from the fallen society (in the book, there were multiple societies that people were born to and had heirs and such. There was a special ring that would be used to choose the next heir when it reacted, but if it did not react, they were not the true heir). The queen within the story had a fascination with the Fibonacci spiral/golden ratio (it was hidden in the design on her floors, on her walls, within the decor in her mansion, etc.)... The crew need to find that relic for a young man, and in doing so, they had many adventures where they needed disguises, and lots of charmed objects (such as a statue that closed its mouth on a thief's wrist if they tried to steal what's inside. I believe the book left off in a cliffhangar or an opening for a second book to follow, but I did not read the second. There was some sprinkled romance between two of the charaters (main ringleader and one of the girls in the crew). It was a great book, that had a dark, fantasy, mystery feel to it.
I really appreciate anyone who read through that essay of word vomit! If anything doesn't make sense, please leave a comment and I can try to see what else I can remember.
Thanks for your help!
