February “Date With A Book” Challenge: General Info & Sign Ups

To have some variation in our monthly challenges, we will be running a “Date With A Book” Challenge in light of Valentine’s Day. This challenge is based off the Copycat Challenge in the “YA Romance” group. How this challenge works, is that participants are paired up and select one or more books from their partner’s ‘read shelf’ to read. It’s a fun way to discover new books and share your bookish thoughts. If your account is set to private, it is recommended that you either friend your partner or set your profile to public for the duration of the challenge, so your partner can view your ‘read shelf’ and find a book to read.

A discussion thread will be created where participants can post the book/s they choose to read from their partner’s shelf, post any reading updates and thoughts they have as they read, and compare how they rated and reviewed the book with their partner. Anyone can join in, in the discussions, and participants are welcome to read more than one book from their partner’s ‘read shelf’ if they wish to.

In summary, participation in this challenge includes posting on the discussion thread your book selections, and any thoughts you have while reading the book and/or once you finish! Here is a brief outline of how you may schedule your read:

Week 1: Look through your partner’s ‘read shelf’ and decide on the book/s you want to read. Post on the thread the book/s you choose
Weeks 1-4: Begin reading, and post on the thread any thoughts you have as you read
Weeks 3-4: Complete your read, and post on the thread your final thoughts of the book, and compare how you both rated it

Sign ups will close on the 1 February and pairs will most likely be announced on that same day. The challenge will run for the duration of February. Please only sign up if you are confident you will have the time to choose and read a book, so nobody is left without a match. To sign up, comment your name down below.
