SOLVED. Group of teens abandoned at summer camp [s]

I am looking for a book I read in the 1980s. It was about a group of teens who were sent to summer camp. They were a mix of troubled kids and good/high achieving kids who had recently made a mistake or let their parents down in some way. While at camp, they realized that their parents had paid the camp for them to get "lost" and to never return.

My copy was a mass market paperback and was green.

Maybe The Grounding of Group 6? It takes place at a school and they go camping I think. Haven't read it, so fuzzy on details.

Sounds EXACTLY like Grounding of Group Six. Only it wasn't summer camp, it was an exclusive boarding school, and the group went on a "special" camping trip before school started.

(it was one of my absolute favorites as a teen!)
