Susan Guard | 695 comments Level 28 goes down for the count!

Finished the Kitty Norville series by Carrie Vaughn (13/14) by reading the final book in the series Kitty Saves the World for 100 + 5 points = 105 points.

Really enjoyed this series and might not have found it if not for this challenge.

Susan Guard | 695 comments Almost forgot to record Level 29! Another easy kill with two series going down.

Polished off The Walk by Richard Paul Evans (4/5) with Walking on Water for 50 + 5 points.

Then picked up The Scam to wrap up Fox and O’Hare by Janet Evanovich (3/4) for 40 + 5 points. I'm sure there will be more of this series but not before the end of the challenge so I am counting this one as finished for now.

Susan Guard | 695 comments Aaaack! It's November. So many series in progress, so little time! Gotta get to killing them off!

Level 30: Wrapped up Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne (5/7) with Hunted and Shattered for 70 + 10 points. Really can't wait for Staked in 2016!

Filled out the rest of the level with Something Wicked This Way Comes, On the Edge, Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire for 5 points each.

Grand total 100 points.

Finished one series, started another, made progress on a third and got a bonus book from the monthly challenge that I didn't realize was a series. Quite an interesting level all in all.

Susan Guard | 695 comments Level 31! read Devoted in Death to wrap up In Death by J. D. Robb (40 of 41) for 100 + 5 points = 105.

I've been reading these for years and it was nice to catch the latest and wrap up a level at the same time.

message 108: by Susan (new)

Susan Guard | 695 comments Level 32 goes down! I executed Temperance Brennan by Kathy Reichs (17/18) with Speaking in Bones for a quick and painless kill 100 + 5 points = 105.

message 109: by Susan (new)

Susan Guard | 695 comments Level 33 flies by! I killed off the Tara Holloway series by Diane Kelly (8/9) with Death, Taxes, and a Chocolate Cannoli for 90 + 5 points. I really liked Tara, she reminds me a little of Stephanie Plum from the Janet Evanovich series.

I then went back to The Edge with Bayou Moon for 5 points. I'm looking at wrapping that one up next.

Total 100 points.

Susan Guard | 695 comments Level 34 bites the dust!

Finished The Edge by Ilona Andrews (2/4) for 40 + 10 points with Fate's Edge and Steel's Edge. When I got to the end of this series I was a little disappointed to discover there are no plans for more. I want to know what happens to some of the other characters.

I then wrapped up Sea Haven/Sisters of the Heart series by Christine Feehan (3/4) by reading Earth Bound for 40 + 5 points.

Rounded out the level with The Forgotten for 5 points. Hoping to knock this one off in my next level.

Total points - 100

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Maybe the author is waiting for reader reactions like yours to be prompted to write another book?

At least you didn't get to the last book, really loving the series, and find out the author died, like I did with Jessie Stone.

Congrats on your Level 35 finish!

Unfortunately, there will be no more Edge books forthcoming. Fans have expressed their disappointment, but the author(s) has been clear that the series is over. :-(

Thanks, Cherie! Though now I'm overcome with an urge to start Jessie Stone, heehee.

Janice (jamasc) | 60035 comments I hope it's complete on their blog page! At the bottom of the page, there's a link to more on their website. The link is broken. You may need to their main website and see what you can find.

That's where I got the Curran POV collection for their Kate Daniels series.

Susan Guard | 695 comments OK. Level 35 goes down! I finished off the Krewe of Hunters by Heather Graham (16/17) with the most recent book The Hidden for 100 + 5 points.

message 121: by Susan (new)

Susan Guard | 695 comments Sneaking up on Level 36 with Undead and Unforgiven to kill off Undead by Mary Janice Davidson (13/14) for 100 + 5 points.

Total - 105 points.

Susan Guard | 695 comments Lights out for Level 37!

I read After the Storm to wrap up the Kate Burkholder series by Linda Castillo (6/7) for 70 + 5 points.

Then on to Deceptions to polish off Cainsville by Kelley Armstrong (2/3) for 30 + 5 points.

Total for this level - 110 points

message 123: by Susan (new)

Susan Guard | 695 comments Level 38!

Wrapped us the Meg Langslow series by Donna Andrews (18/19) with Lord of the Wings for 100 + 5 points.

Total - 105 points

message 125: by Susan (new)

Susan Guard | 695 comments Level 39 takes me to the world of Fool's Gold. Fun, frivolous and formula reading but an easy kill.

Fools’s Gold by Susan Mallery (16/19) with Kiss Me, Thrill Me and Marry Me at Christmas wrapping up this series for 100 + 15 points.

Total - 115 points

Susan Guard | 695 comments 40! made it to Level 40! Woo hoo!

OK, this one took some maneuvering:

Finished off the Sentinels of New Orleans by Suzanne Johnson (3/4) by reading Pirate's Alley for 40 + 5 points.

Then I killed off Kendra Michaels by Iris Johansen (2/3) by reading The Naked Eye for 30 + 5 points.

Then stalked some of the other series that I'm still trying to kill off with Vampire Most Wanted, Best Laid Plans, Seize the Night and Archangel's Enigma for 5 points each. Since the Archangels series was my first kill and this was just published - book points only.

Total - 100 points

I've still got a couple of "one book left in the series" levels left that I'm going to try to knock out before the end of the year.

I wrapped up the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands (21/22) for 100 points + 5 points by reading About a Vampire.

Total for this level - 105 points

message 130: by Susan (new)

Susan Guard | 695 comments Level 42 comes to an end!

Polished of the Lucy Kincaid by series by Alison Brennan (7/8) with No Good Deed for 100 + 5 points.

Susan Guard | 695 comments Coming down to the wire with Level 43!

Thoroughly enjoyed Tricky Twenty-Two the latest installment of Stephanie Plum by Janet Evanovich (21/22). 100 points for series + 5 points for the book

Total - 105 points

Running out of one-book levels so 44 is going to be a challenge and may be it for the year. Onward!!

message 133: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Oh, I am glad to hear that about the latest Stephanie Plum book, Susan. I have to read this as an orphan - next year though, 'cuz I killed her off as my first victim on Jan 1st. They just don't stay down.

I cannot believe that I have more series to finish than I started with and over 350 1st-in-series yet to read on my TBR.

message 134: by Susan (new)

Susan Guard | 695 comments And just squeaking in under the wire with level 44!! Stayed up all night and finally finished off the last book. There are still series to be killed off but that will have to wait till next year.

Killed off the trilogy: Cormoran Strike by Robert Galbraith (aka JK Rowling (2/3) with Career of Evil for 30 + 5 points.

Wrapped up the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Mayer (3/4) with Winter for 40 + 5 points.

Read Cat in a Zebra Zoot Suit: A Midnight Louie Mystery for 5 points. I had already considered this one killed not realizing this was coming out this year. There's one last one in the series that I will be on the look out for.

Made a dent in the Dark Hunters by Sherrilyn Kenyon (9 of 13) with Sins of the Night, One Silent Night and Dragonbane for 5 points each. I've only got one more to go to kill this one off but I don't think it's happening tonight. Maybe the first one I kill off tomorrow...

Total - 100 points

message 135: by Susan (new)

Susan Guard | 695 comments If I have counted correctly (and that's not a given) I have wrapped up the 2015 Serial Killer challenge with:

44 levels reported
183 books read
4660 points
59 series killed off (14 of those were entire series read during this challenge)
14 levels killed off with a single book
3 series still in progress
3 little orphan books that are part of a series but not followed up on

This was fun! I'm definitely going to continue with the serial killing.
