Allen Cross | 51 comments Joining the club on these now that I’ve had some sleep. My current reads are two nonfiction books on foreign policy - The Naked Diplomat and Superpower Showdown. First I picked up from the bookstore at the United Nations HQ. I always buy a book when I travel. Reading through for some memories. Superpower Showdown was a free eBook. Can’t hurt to check it out. I promise I read fiction too. Just got done with a steampunk-ish novel A Conspiracy of Alchemists. My mind has just been in a real world type of mood lately.

Bumble Greenbriar (hernameiscrumpet) | 922 comments i’m bored and cold and wet because I just got inside from the snow and now I don’t want to go back out again since it’s warm inside

Allen Cross | 51 comments Are you just up early or something? Could be in another time zone. 08:00 here, and I’m still trying to coffee myself to functional adult status. No snow for me just yet, I’m afraid.

Bumble Greenbriar (hernameiscrumpet) | 922 comments 1pm here 😂

message 7: by Allen (new)

Allen Cross | 51 comments OK. That makes more sense. I was afraid I was getting too old now because all the youngsters go outside in the snow at ungodly morning hours. Not there yet, Allen. Not there yet.

Bumble Greenbriar (hernameiscrumpet) | 922 comments I woke up at like 12 lol

message 9: by Allen (new)

Allen Cross | 51 comments So I guess for you it would be an ungodly hour to be out in the snow. I can’t sleep past 08:00 anymore or I feel like crap. Man, I sound like I’m elderly. I’m really not, I swear, hah.

Allen Cross | 51 comments Aaaannnnnddddd that’s why they invented caffeine. Pretty sure some of my coworkers stay alive via cocaine too. I work in NYC finance, so that wouldn’t surprise me.

message 11: by Allen (new)

Allen Cross | 51 comments I mean, I haven’t reached the cocaine level because My job isn’t worth my sanity, but yeah, definitely concerning. Don’t go into finance, kids!

Brooke W (thereadersgame) | 4214 comments Hehe I don't have to worry about that yet!

Nice nookie.

Allen Cross | 51 comments It’s not bad if you’re careful not to let greed take you over, honestly. I suspect it in the guys (it’s still a good ol’ boy club, unfortunately) who keep pushing for more and more riches and gold. Personally, I’m just happy to make enough to not be living off my parents and what-not.

message 14: by Allen (new)

Allen Cross | 51 comments And your free time is yours. That’s been nice. Since you make money, nobody cares if you want to stay home and binge watch Game of Thrones or something.

message 15: by Allen (new)

Allen Cross | 51 comments Yeah, nah, I’m happy working for the big man. Not innovative enough for self-employment, heh.

message 16: by Allen (new)

Allen Cross | 51 comments The two nonfiction books I’m currently on are interesting, but I’m not sure how to post about them here. I feel like fiction books you can “react” to what happens in the story, but for my picks, I’d just be spouting factoids. Thoughts?

message 17: by Allen (new)

Allen Cross | 51 comments Got tired of my nonfiction reads and took a look at some books my SO got me for Christmas. Starting with Farlander, and...I’m certain my favorite character ends up dead at the end. I took a quick peek at the series in Google and this character is not mentioned at all in the synopsis of the second book. Well. So much for favorites.

Allen Cross | 51 comments Side note... Goodreads thinks I’m female, given how many make up adverts I get. Gotta lay off the Anne Rice, man.
