My rows are exhausted, so I’m probably just going random once I help Kimberly. Checkerboard is a waste of books since we have found the 2-spot. We shouldn’t hit things that aren’t two spots apart on at least one side...right?

Would it be helpful to anyone for me to map out possible spots we could use to find the ship in 8-9 shots?
Hannah wrote: "Would it be helpful to anyone for me to map out possible spots we could use to find the ship in 8-9 shots?"haha!!! I was just about to do the same thing! :D
Okay! My first three were D3, I3, and H4....do those look good to you also? That clears the entire first five lines.
Hannah wrote: "Okay! My first three were D3, I3, and H4....do those look good to you also? That clears the entire first five lines."I think E3 will be better than D3 incase the ship is vertical. That will also rule out if it's on row 3.
I like I3. H4 has already been called. Did you mean F4?
For the bottom rows, I'm thinking I9, G8 (which I just changed my last target spot to), F7 or I7 (all of row 7 is tricky, and we may have to target some spots that are next to each other). I've also marked D8, H9, and J10 as possibilities. Thoughts?

Ugh. I did. E4.
From what I'm seeing, E3 leaves b/c/d as a possible ship spot, and if we hit E4 that goes both directions.

B3 is already being targeted to finish off that 5 spot ship.
Hannah wrote: "Row 7 is tricky. Row 10...We could do any of those three spots and it's done in 1 book."
Agree on row 10. Since that's my row, I'll go ahead and finish it out by choosing I10.
Looks like H9 is the best possible spot for that row.
That looks good! We need two more hits on I but if we went for I7 that knocks out a lot of possibilities...
Row 5 & 6 are mine... and with a 3-spot ship, it can start and stop anywhere including close to other hits. That's why I picked it.
Here's all the spots that look like good targets for me - E3, I3, F4, H9, E8, G8, F7 and I7. That does leave one or two 3-spot places around, but hopefully, one of these spots will be the winner.

Okay, take a look at this list: E3 or F3
I3
F4 or G4 (if F3)
G7
I7
C8
F8
G8 or H8 or I8
H9
^that's nine shots; do you see a strategy for less?
I like D8 but that leaves C unfinished. ..

Bess wrote: "Okay, so we'll deviate from our rows to focus on this strategy? I can do that."Yes, I think we have to at this point so we can move on to the next board. :)

I like this list! For row 3, choosing E3 finishes that row and that column (not including that I3 still needs to be picked). Choosing F4 would finish that row.
I think 9 is probably the smallest number of hits we can expect given the open slots available. I agree about F8.
The only spot that is iffy is I 4/5/6 based on your target list.
Not really since several spots on either side in H and J have already been called. I5 may be the easiest.
That looks good to me. So we’re at 10 hits to get every corner.Would you like to keep the list of targets posted and updated or would you like me to?

I'm happy to do it!
Happy pie day to you too!I finished two books, but I think I’ll wait to see what the results are from all the ones you all posted first.
Taking I7Great plan, Emily! With your two books, we can be pretty certain of sinking the ship as soon as we know where it is.
I'm in agreement with Emily that we should wait on calling anything else until we see the results from this round. Looks like Bess and Hannah feel the same. Kimberly, your thoughts?
I'm trying to finish another for tonight and will try to be ready to post as soon as Melanie updates.
Hannah wrote: "All right! What’s our plan for the next board?"I definitely think that the row assignments worked well to start! It gave everyone a designated spot to focus on. I think if we keep that up and hone in on the last remaining possibilities after we've sunk 3-4 ships, that will be a great strategy going forward.
Bess wrote: "Okay, I'm finished with my book. Are we still waiting for Mel's updates?"Yes, looks that way. :)
