Anyone who has sold their book for a script or had a script done of their book, could you share your experiences, advice, and/or warnings?

What you sell is an option to produce a film not the script itself. You are given a certain amount of money by a producer who then has a certain amount of time to produce a film. Research the producer as well as the usual amount of money that changes hands and the customary time limit on the option. This is done by written contract.
