Angela | 655 comments Last comment I swear! I have been in meetings all morning so lot's of sitting in my chair and pretending to pay attention until I am called on. I have Ring Shout by P. Djèlí Clark that is pretty short that I could fit in for a Reverse card if you guys want. Let me know or if anyone else can fill it, I can shelve it for next month.

Awesome! I kept looking for one but couldn't find anything on my shelves. :)"

I may have started a kindle unlimited free trail for 30 days to get it haha! I had nothing physically on my shelves that could work either

message 603: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Ooh. Ring Shout is really good.

I got the free trial of KU a few years ago, and I use it all the time for challenges. And for non-challenges. Money well spent.

message 604: by Angela (new)

Angela | 655 comments Would Ring Shout also work for the white hat prompt?

message 605: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments The countdown to the end of this round and the beginning of the last is up in message 6.

Jenny | 2346 comments Angela wrote: "Would Ring Shout also work for the white hat prompt?"

Ooh. good question. Let me go ask the other captains.

message 607: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments The April cards are up, and we have a ton of color cover cards to find. There are also a lot of Draw 2s, so remember to check when you are putting your books on the spreadsheet whether they will work for two cards in a hand that has a Draw 2.

Feel free to start grabbing up color cards and Wild Draw 4 cards, and reverses for next month.

We have about a week left in the March round.

Jenny | 2346 comments Angela wrote: "Would Ring Shout also work for the white hat prompt?"

Consensus on using a hood as a white hat is...wait for it...no.
Made for some astonished responses though.

message 609: by Angela (new)

Angela | 655 comments Hood: a covering for the head and neck with an opening for the face, typically forming part of a coat or sweatshirt.

Hat: a shaped covering for the head worn for warmth, as a fashion item, or as part of a uniform.

I thought it would work based on that! Shucks!

message 610: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Still a book worth reading though.
I am ploughing through the Detroit book, which is a hockey romance. Not my cup of tea, but it does make me want to go to a hockey game again.

Angela Snyder | 31 comments I've got 7 blue:
VC Andrews - All That Glitters - Author first name (V - Virginia) & the book is blue

message 614: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments I just grabbed the 7 Blue for a WD4 card yesterday, but I haven't finished the book yet, so if you want to grab it instead, feel free. Line 16 in hand 2.

message 615: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Do you guys think the fur hat is white enough?
Winter Murderland Psychic Sleuths and Talking Dogs (A Jaz and Luffy Cozy Mystery, #6) by Max Parrott

message 616: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 161 comments Maybe?? Either way it looks good

message 617: by Alla (new)

Alla (allaskarp) | 364 comments Not sure it will be accepted...the top on the tree is more white than the hat, so someone might comment on that... :/

message 618: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Yeah, I was looking for one that wasn't cowboy romance. Oh well.

message 619: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments The only two unclaimed tasks for the mini are

6. Read a book with a white suit or white hat on the cover
18. Read a book with diamond jewellery on the cover

Do any of you have books that will fit? Or are you willing to take on a short KU book?

I grabbed two more tasks today, and am listening to short audiobooks to cover them.

message 620: by Alla (new)

Alla (allaskarp) | 364 comments I can do white hat...does this type of hat apply?
Tidewater Bride by Laura Frantz

message 621: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Yes, that will work. Woohoo!

message 622: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 303 comments Finished to Dance Again- if anyone can tell me what laughter like tingling raindrops actually sounds like it would be much appreciated :D it was cute though!

I can pick up the diamond jewelry prompt for mini challenge if no one has claimed ?

message 623: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Yes please!
I keep looking for a diamond book and run into ones I really don't want to read.

Don't you love books where the author tries really hard to write brilliant imagery, only to wonder what their frames of reference are?

No worries, found a Jane Austen modern retelling with a diamond ring on the front!

Honestly if I heard anyone with a laugh like tingling rain, it would be rather creepy.

message 625: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Happy Sunday everyone!

We have just a few days left in this round, and you guys have been amazing. Every card and mini task is claimed, and most are done.

Here is the list of claimed but not yet finished books for the main hand and the mini. Check it over, and if you know you won't finish a book this round, then please release the spot and drop a note here.
The only card that I can't find a replacement for from extra books read so far or from the mini books (if needed) is the 1 Yellow.

Katie- The Prophets
Ilsen- The Dew Breaker, Children of Blood and Bone
Amanda- The Gilded Ones
Phez- After Ever Happy, The Unhoneymooners
AngelaSc- Force of Nature
AngelaSn- One Last Lie, All that Glitters

Mini-

AngelaSc- That Forever Girl, Force of Nature (also on main hand)
Nicole- Leopard Moon
Dawn- Eligible
Ilsen- Children of Blood...(also on main hand)
Alla- Today Tonight Tomorrow
Jenny- Daughter of Time

I will finish my last book for the mini in the next couple of days.

Also, Phoenix had a few clouds yesterday, but alas, no tingling raindrops. I so wanted to see what that sounded like.

Off to start work on the oh so important NYT crossword, and have more coffee. Sundays. Even if it isn't football season yet, I like them.

message 626: by Alla (new)

Alla (allaskarp) | 364 comments I've started my mini book so it will be finished :)

message 627: by Alla (new)

Alla (allaskarp) | 364 comments Happy Sunday!

message 628: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Oh my god. I just happened upon these books on KU. Do you think that perhaps the author played UNO?

29 (29 #1) by Nancy Pennick 29² Twenty-Nine Squared (29 #2) by Nancy Pennick 29∞ (Twenty-Nine Forever) by Nancy Pennick 29° (Twenty-Nine Degrees) (Twenty Nine Book 3) by Nancy Pennick

message 629: by Angela (new)

Angela | 655 comments It's been heavily raining here going on two days now. Yesterday was pretty busy with projects around the house. I will finish up Force of Nature today and start That Forever Girl. I will definitely be finished by Wednesday.

message 630: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 303 comments please do keep me updated with the tingling raindrops! we have had heavy rain but I have not yet heard someone's laugh described like a heavy downpour.

On track to finish my mini challenge book :)

message 631: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 303 comments That author was definitely an UNO captain, writing books just to help future teams

message 632: by Rachael (new)

Rachael Hewison (rachhewison) | 459 comments Thanks for the updates so far. It gives us a good idea as to whether we need to move some books around on the spreadsheet so the more notice you can give us as to whether you'll be able to finish the book by the end of this month, makes it easier for us and less of a mad scramble to get it moved around!

Echoing Jenny, if the following could let us know whether they'll be able to finish their books we'd really appreciate it :)

Katie- The Prophets
Ilsen- The Dew Breaker, Children of Blood and Bone
Amanda- The Gilded Ones
Phez- After Ever Happy, The Unhoneymooners
AngelaSn- All that Glitters

Mini-

AngelaSc- That Forever Girl
Nicole- Leopard Moon
Ilsen- Children of Blood
Jenny- Daughter of Time

We're also still struggling for a '1 yellow' any one able to read anything for that?

message 633: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments It looks like Phez is reading for the 1 Yellow. Just let us know if you can't get it done in time, as that will be the hardest to cover.

Thanks all.

message 634: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 161 comments I’m planning on finishing Children of Blood and Bone today and the Dew Breaker, I will finish this week as I need to finish it for school!

message 635: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments How is Children of Blood and Bone? I keep almost-ing that one. Yes, I am sure that almost-ing is a word. shut up.

message 636: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 161 comments It’s pretty good. I hate the romance between the two main characters though and it’s definitely not the best fantasy ever like everyone kept hyping it up to be

message 637: by phez (new)

phez (phezweb) I will be finished. I also have another yellow book I’m reading in April. 5th book in a series too. So I call dibs on one yellow that will hopefully work!

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

message 638: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Oh you will be able to use your next yellow book too!

I clicked on the link, and realized that I have not had enough coffee yet, as the title blurred into before after 5. Which made no sense to me, until I realized it was a series. Coffee. Now.

message 639: by Angela (new)

Angela Snyder | 31 comments I will certainly b done by the end of April. Unless you mean the end of Mar. I can be done by the end of March.

message 640: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Angela, if you can finish the book you have on the March hand by the end if March, that would be great!
If you can't, no problem, just let us know, and you can use it for April.

message 641: by Rachael (new)

Rachael Hewison (rachhewison) | 459 comments I've just updated the spreadsheet- it's looking good, just a couple more to go!

Katie could you add the date read to The Prophets please so that I can fill that in on the spreadsheet?

message 642: by Alla (new)

Alla (allaskarp) | 364 comments I´ve started to read for April since everything is covered.
Will make sure to not finish any until new round has started.
We can start reading as long as we don´t finish before starting time, right?

message 643: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments That is right!

message 644: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Sue (misscimi) | 28 comments Gilded Ones is finished! Whew, I was cutting it close.

Hope everyone is doing good!!

message 645: by Angela (new)

Angela | 655 comments Is this blue enough (or at all) to use? Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne

message 646: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments That looks blue enough.

message 647: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Nineteen and a half hours left to finish your March books and mark them as read on your shelves.

Nineteen and a half hours until you can finish the last few pages of books you are saving for the April hand!

Well done everyone. We only have a few books outstanding, and it looks like we will finish.

message 648: by phez (new)

phez (phezweb) Finishing final
Book today

message 649: by phez (new)

phez (phezweb) So what does that mean last few pages saving for April?

message 650: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments It just means that if someone started a book that wasn't going to fit on the March cards, it can work for April as long as it is finished in April.
Some of us have started books for April already. Overachievers all.
