wow! that's a lot of books. I get 6-8 done per month usually, and that's with 1 or 2 of them being on audio while I run around. I definitely won't get to all my hopefuls this month, but I'm trying!

message 254: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hutchinson | 86 comments About halfway through

The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell

And really enjoying it. I've only read one other Jewell book but I think after this one she will definitely be added to my favorite author's list.

message 255: by Trisha (new)

Trisha | 1892 comments I'm a huge fan of this author too! AND I loved that one! I hope you do too!

Trisha | 1892 comments I just finished Thistlefoot by GennaRose Nethercott - a beautiful, heart-breaking story filled with lore and love and memory. Ugh, so good.

I'm finishing up Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn which I'm reading with a book club and really loving it too!

Then I'm starting Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young for a book club tonight!

message 266: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hutchinson | 86 comments Right now I'm workin on Factory Girls by Michelle Gallen from NetGalley but I'm really thinking I need to be reading more than one at once with the number of books I have to get through before the end of the year LOL.

message 267: by Trisha (new)

Trisha | 1892 comments YES! I'm super focused on getting my netgalley backlog done too! I'm definitely working on more than 1 at a time - because I'm doing the audiobooks while I work, study, do chores, drive, etc and then work on a physical book when I'm able to. I had an arc of Love & Other (my book above) and I just never got to it UGH! lol

Good luck to both of us to get these Netgalley books done!

message 268: by Trisha (new)

Trisha | 1892 comments I'm finally getting through some of my backlog!

Finished up: Sign Here by Claudia Lux
midway through The Stardust Thief (The Sandsea Trilogy, #1) by Chelsea Abdullah - I plan to finish today

and working through: The Family by Naomi Krupitsky The Last Party (DC Morgan, #1) by Clare Mackintosh

Jennifer Hutchinson | 86 comments December books are up! I'm in a terrible reading slump, I still have a paperback for a book club that I have to read this month and a couple of library books that I have to return if I don't read in the next week or so, how do you guys get out of a reading slump? Any suggestions?

I typically read short story anthologies
for some reason, the feeling of getting a small story "done" seems to get me moving quicker

or I read a book by an author I love
others say to re-read one of your favorites or try an audiobook.

Ty for the suggestions Trisha! I've used reading short stories before to get out of a slump, I actually have a Lovecraft book that I've been reading off and on for a while that I can easily pick up. I hate being in a reading slump! I think the holidays kind of makes me a little depressed and then I don't want to do anything, even read. Hopefully I can figure it out and get through my book club book because I was really looking forward to it before, I definitely don't want to read it and not enjoy it. I even have a review that I need to write and I just can't, ugh 😫

Well hopefully, picking my December books will cheer me up today lol

message 274: by Trisha (new)

I just finished it. As I did not like the previous book I read by her my expectations were not high, but I was wrong and I did enjoy this book.

Well I didn't get to it before the series came out, but I haven't watched it either.

I finally read it and it was surprisingly a very good story. I have it a 5.

Now I have to plan to watch the series. I think Vanessa has a watch party going on or starting a new one soon.

message 289: by Trisha (last edited Sep 07, 2023 05:20PM) (new)

Trisha | 1892 comments I'm bummed, both of my boxes are going to be delayed because of publishing dates.

I don't think I'll have either of my boxes until at least the end of next week, probably more like the last week of Sept 😥

The next ones I plan to read are:
Shark Heart by Emily Habeck Happiness Falls by Angie Kim Just Another Missing Person by Gillian McAllister

however, I do have these as Arcs and can read anytime:
The Stranger Upstairs by Lisa M. Matlin The Intern by Michele Campbell

message 290: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 710 comments I 4 of the 5 listed (I don't have Shark Heart by Emily Habeck )

the remaining all sound interesting so flip a coin and tell me when you want to star and I'll make sure I finish up my current read.

message 291: by Trisha (new)

Trisha | 1892 comments How about The Stranger Upstairs by Lisa M. Matlin or Just Another Missing Person by Gillian McAllister ?

message 292: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 710 comments Let's go with the one with the higher rating: The Stranger Upstairs by Lisa M. Matlin
