This is all I remember -- read in 1st grade in 2009, took place the future, involved a family on a spaceship and a future planet with beautiful landscape. Might have had some twist at the end where we discover things we're how they appeared?

Hm. If you read it in first grade, I wonder if it would be a children's book rather than YA? For example, did the book have chapters? Any romance?

Do you recall anything about any of the family members - were they human or alien? Ages or roles, e..g. mother(s), father(s), boy(s), girl(s)? Anything about why they were on the spaceship (refugees, explorers, settlers)?
