Sue (suefloyd) | 13 comments Long shot title search. I work for a library and was asked about this book.
It is NOT "The Cornish Cream BusTea " or "Cold Comfort Farm".
Here's what patron told me:
-I recommended it to her about 20 years ago so written before 2000
-Probably non-fiction
-Probably set in Britain
-Family inherits/moves to a farm but doesn't know anything about farming
-Serves cream teas to raise money
-Was funny
I am drawing a total blank. Help?

Sue, is this book for adults?

I added some details to the header/topic title. You can update it by clicking the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, click the "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)

JennAnn | 28 comments Was it perhaps one of the books written by James Robertson (sometimes James Irvine Robertson)? I remember my farming relatives thoroughly enjoying his "Any Fool Can Be a Dairy Farmer", which was first published long before 2000, but has been reissued more than once. That was about a couple who took on a farm owned by the wife's father, even though they knew nothing about farming. I also read the book and found it very entertaining at the time, but I don't remember much about it and nothing about their selling cream teas.

However, the author did write several other books in the same vein. eg "Any Fool Can Be a Pig Farmer" and other titles, so perhaps your patron remembers another one. I checked both the US and UK amazon pages and saw no mention of audiobooks, but of course, as his books and magazine columns etc. were very popular, it's possible that one, or some of them were once published on audio cassette.
