What does everyone think about reading book 2 as well?

of course i’m down! I just bought the second book. :) I can start reading friday when it comes in the mail

so I'd say don't worry. if they're not reading or commenting, it's upto them. at least the rest of us are enjoying :)
Also, I noticed a lot of people are talking in chapters 1-5 that are not the regulars. I think they’re taking their time reading or they’re still reading them. We don’t know :) but I don’t mind! We might already have said what they wanted to say or theyre still getting around to reading it.

i think we should keep it open so people can read at their own pace, but maybe wait for the main group to be ready to start the second book around the same time. just a thought, but if people are ahead that would work too i guess

I finished! I can wait until everyone else gets their hands on the second book. The thing is, I might be a little slower in a week or two because I’ll be all settled into the new semester and will be drowning in court case readings and reviewing the Constitution (sadly).
ah yay!! so excited. Let’s see where everyone is at and see if a lot of ppl are ready to read the second book :)
@Averil, YOU ALREADY FINISHED THE ENTIRE SERIES IN ONE GO? How impressive! I really am in awe! I am not a fast reader so i envy those who are because my tbr list is so long and there’s only so much hours in a day
i'm only on 18 now bc of school, but i'll finish tonight or tomorrow. i actually get to go to the bookstore tomorrow... so i'm planning on looking for the second one! :)
haha maybe i won't finish tonight since i wanted to go to bed earlier, but tomorrow definitely :)
don’t feel forced or rush to finish at a specific time or day. School is stressful and time consuming so it is ok :) but yay i’m excited for you! I love going to the book store it’s like free serotonin

these books are just too good to read that slow, hehe.

GIRL YES hahaha. I’ve never read a book so fast! No doubt that if I had all the books now I’d take 3-4 days to read the entire series as well. THEY ARE SO GOOD. @Bee what other series do you like that was a fast read as well?
ooh if you're taking recommendations, some fast series reads for me were The Lunar Chronicles and Six of Crows
I want to read Six of Crows so badly as well as the Shadow and Bone series because of the series coming out in April (I always try to read the book before I watch the book/movie) I heard the Shadow and Bone series aren’t that good so i’m conflicted
I never heard of the Lunar Chronicles, I’ll look into it! I’ll also add it to my tbr :) thanks for the suggestions I really appreciate it!
hey guys i’m reading the lost sisters right now! i found a free file on it online so i’m reading it. lmk if anyone wants it as well :)
i’m only halfway done and???? i am so angry. I didn’t think i’d get angrier at taryn than I already was BUT HERE I AM. She is insufferable I cannot stand her. I don’t know if I want to even finish this bc she is the worst sister, person EVER! Also, didn’t Vivi say that she didn’t know it was Locke to Jude in the Cruel Prince?

she told Vivi the actual name!!! She gave Vivi the letter Locke wrote her and his name was on it
Also, I am mad at Taryns reaction through everything. I really do believe she despises Jude in all and every way. She is more mad, annoyed, jealous of Jude than anything. All she has are negative emotions towards her own sister. The sister who took the fall in the lake for Taryn even though it was Taryn’s fault!! AND TARYN ALLOWED HER. Just for some simple, petty love? Love that divided her with her own sister

i personally DNF the second novel because i wasn't enjoying it. so i wouldn't recommend the series, especially compared to Six of Crows, which has much-improved writing and characters and is just such a great book. if you do decide to read them, i hope you like it :)

@Bee, you’re right. they do deserve each other i just can’t help but get mad at taryn bc she chose to love a man instead of loving her sister. A sister who continuously and selflessly stood up for her and loved her. I think I just get angry because me and my sister are close in age and are called twins all the time and if she ever disregarded my feelings and chose a boy over me who hurt me and played me, I’d be so mad LOL
@Julia, oh my gosh so should I not read the shadow and bone series? my friend even told me the series sucks and i’d probably not like it. she told me six of crows is so much better but i am afraid that i might miss something from shadow and bones that is pertinent to the six of crows series

and btw, I've heard shadow and bone is not that good and that people don't have to read it first to read six of crows but I'm just very much into reading chronologically so I too am gonna start the grishaverse books soon with a group of friends.
wow sorry i saw this so late XDD
there is NOTHING that is important in Six of Crows that you will miss if you read it first. NOTHING. there are a few minor characters that you will know from Shadow and Bone, but it won't be confusing at all. everything is explained clearly and well. there are a few references that i didn't notice in SoC until i started S+B, but they seemed like they were mostly there to give the reader a fun little phrase if they'd read the other books. nothing you'd catch if you hadn't read them though. the MC is S+B just wasn't very interesting to me, and i didn't enjoy reading in her perspective. SoC is set in a different city then S+B so that isn't confusing either. it's mostly just those few characters that you would understand their backstory (which actually, not many of the MCs in SoC even know) and know more about them. so, up to you, but it's not necessary to read S+B.

oh ok that makes me feel a little bit better about deciding on not reading shadow and bones. maybe in the future when I ran out of books i’m interested in I’ll read shadow and bones series LOL but i definitely will read six of crows hopefully by next month
lmk your opinions!
