I discovered that many of my most memorable reads show up on both lists and decided to do a comparison. There is an overlap of 466 books (unless I missed any) between the Guardian and the extended (all editions) Boxall list. The greatest overlap is in the State of the Nation category, where 99 out of 134 Guardian books are on the Boxall list. I expected the SFF category to have the smallest overlap, because there is very little SF and almost no Fantasy on the Boxall list, but like I said, the Guardian category is more aptly called Speculative Fiction and there's a pretty high overlap. The smallest overlap is in Crime, with only 43 books in common, followed by Comedy with 47. Not really a surprise, as the Crime category is plot heavy and, well, the Boxall list seems to strive to be very serious. ;) Boxall and the Guardian also frequently agrees that an author is list worthy, but disagree on the exact book(s).
Because the Guardian list is category based, the same author can have books in more than one category. For the purposes of the crossover list I have kept it alphabetical by author, but have added the Guardian category in brackets for curiosity's sake (although I occasionally disagree with their assignations). I might slowly start to convert the titles to book links, but to begin with you just get the plain text version.
