I’m an utter noob when it comes to goodreads and groups, but I got the memo for this buddyread and I definitely would like to participate since I haven’t read the book yet. :) Not sure how I do this and how the whole thing works though, so... here I am! What to do now (besides acquiring the book ASAP)?

I'm reading this now - the only problem is the chapters being identified by character name, rather than number, so I've no idea what chapter I'm on.

Here's a chapter list, where they put a number out beside each character title. i.e. Bran IV, Eddard III, etc

You can click each one for summaries, so spoilers are hidden if you don't click.

Damn, this is making me want to re-read... I got stuck at A Feast for Crows, but nooooo, I can't, there are other series I wanna read this year and I was gonna maybe try this again next year....damn it lol

Beena, me too! I stopped after a storm of swords because I was waiting for him to finish winds of winter. But that won't happen in the near future so maybe in a couple of years I'll read the whole thing. Including dunk and egg and his fire and blood

@Paula, yeah, think he's stopped altogether for now, or just been working on other stuff. Maybe he'll wait another 10 years for the hype of the TV show to die down, then he can finish in peace lol. Think it proper messed him up.. the perils of making a book series into a programme when it's not even finished yet...

Beena, I think he is still working on winds especially now with covid going on. But I doubt we will see a dream of spring, I just hope he can finish winds

Dunk and egg is set in the same world some years back and the novels are shorter. I also think he plans to write more of them but I doubt he has the time

How's everybody going? I'm in the middle of Chapter 8 Bran 9%
I'm loving meeting all the characters and the fantastic writing. I don't remember details from my first read but I do feel slightly less lost than the first time around.

I love Jon, Arya and Tyrion.

Have you guys watched the show? I read all the books a few years ago, planning to then watch the show but in the end I didn't want the show to override the images in my head so I still haven't watched it!🤷

I'm about to start chapter 48; I'm really enjoying it so far.

One thing that struck me was what great prose Martin has; it's not beautiful like Kay's pose is, but it's incredible readable, if that makes any sense.

I like the in-depth world building, as well; I find all the small details of things like the godswoods in the north, or the iron throne itself are what give the world a real richness and depth for me.

Favourite characters at the moment are Eddard, Jon and Arya, though I like Sansa and Daenerys more than I did first time round.

I've never seen the TV show; I've see enough of it in other images to know it doesn't match the images I have in my head either!

I'm loving this as much or more as the first time around. But like the first time, my least favourite PoV are the female ones, excluding Arya. Every Catelyn and Daenerys chapter kind of bores me 😕
