I don't remember much but protagonist (a kid, don't remember gender) moves into a house with an attic and thinks its haunted by a ghost. (view spoiler)[Turns out another kid has been living and hiding there but pretends to be a ghost to avoid detection. The kid in hiding bases the ghost off of a diary in the attic belonging to a girl who might've mentioned hating needlepoint. The book included a diagram of the attic to show the specific nook in which the kid hid when someone came into the attic. (hide spoiler)]Would guess I read it in the late 90s or early 2000s.

I don't remember the amount of humor in it but it wasn't epistolary. I think it had at least a couple passages from the diary but that would've been it. Thank you though!
