Every year, I choose a genre to focus on. This year is YA, Classics, and Nonfiction. So looking forward to a great reading year.

Greyden Derr | 9 comments I’m currently reading “When We Were lost” by Kevin Wignall. It’s a survival story about a highschool class who’s plane crashed in the Amazon rainforest. Thus far I have been on the edge of my seat throughout the whole of the book. It’s a lot like “Lord Of The Flies” and “Hatchet.”

Elisabeth aka Elsie(Taylor's version) | 132 comments Sounds great! I’ll check it!:)

Ooh, what classics do you plan to read? I just read "Wuthering Heights" not that long ago and loved it!

Hatchet was great! I read that with my daughter for school and I bought the rest of the series; still working on it though. Welcome to our group!

I am in a Classics Book Club too. So really excited this year to incorporate my love of YA and Classics together. Here's part of my list:
The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood
Tarzan of the Apes
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea
Pippi Longstocking
Big Red
The Little Match Girl
The Red Shoes
Kim
Robinson Crusoe
Black Beauty
Little Women
The Secret Garden - My all time favorite!!
The Hobbit, or There and Back Again
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

If anyone wants to do a BR with me on any of these, just say the word.

Is that Brandon Sanderson? I haven't read him and really want to but I don't know where to start on his books. Would you please nominate either Mistborn or another of his during our BOTM Nominations. Or if interested, a Buddy Read would be great.

I LOVE The Secret Garden!! It was soooo good, especially on audio!
The only other ones I've read on your list is The Hobbit and Little Women, maybe we should do a classics BOTM? I think it would be fun :D

I started that some time ago but stopped since it started to be abit slow? Did you like it?

message 19: by Willow Anne (new)

Willow Anne | 78 comments I think War and Peace is absolutely worth it, it gets sooo good, and the character development is amazing! Before We Were Yours was good but not great, so i dont know that id really recommend that one. Hope this helps!

message 20: by sumayyah (new)

sumayyah (sumayyaha) Oh, my just realized I didn't specify which book. I've heard good things about War and Peace but I was talking about Before We Were Yours, thank you.

I am currently reading three YA books. My library finally ordered Dust, our June 2022 Group Read and I LOVE it. Also reading The Summer We Forgot but I can't find it. I think I may have lost it and need to get another copy. But still searching. Lastly is Stand Tall with my upcoming 6th grader. Our school system has assigned reading in the summer months to keep students reading. This was the book she choose of the three options given. So we are reading it together. Not sure where it is going yet but I am intrigued.
