Would you like to join us on a year of "Soulistic Gardening?"

Well, this is your invitation to do so. Intrigued?

Over the years since I started Devon Book Club I have had the pleasure of knowing Lorna Howarth, founder of Panacea Books. Lorna is a writer, publisher (and much more) based in North Devon.

At the end of 2020 Lorna launched a new book "The Soulistic Journey: A Pilgrimage To The Source Of Your Being" co-written by her and Genevieve Boast the founder of Beyond Human Stories Ltd, who also has a fascinating life journey.

I read the book over Christmas and found it not just to be beautifully written but to profoundly connect with themes that have been a constant in our discussions during 2020.

How do we make sense of the conflicting pressures that we all face?

What are the important anchors in our lives?

What is truly important to us?

What is our story and how can we rewrite it?

At times of crisis, there is always opportunity - to pause, reflect and rethink. The Soulistic Journey chimed with me in that respect.

So, Lorna and I talked about the book and the time we are living through and, intrigued by the offer of "a year and a day-long walk", accompanied by tools to "re-tell our stories", I asked Lorna if she and Genevieve would be interested in walking that path with our Devon Book Club community during 2021. She enthusiastically accepted that invitation and has agreed to write a short piece for us each month to offer an opportunity for individual and collective reflection.

The first will be posted this Saturday

Lorna, Genevieve and I will be talking in the coming week or two to think further about how to build this experience throughout the year.

Tomorrow I will share more about Lorna and Genevieve and their journeys towards writing this book together.

This is the first time Devon Book Club has embarked on a year-long theme and I'm very excited by the potential it offers.

It feels timely and I am looking forward to sharing ideas across our community throughout 2021.

I hope you will find it of value and join participate in whatever way is meaningful for you.
