I'd like to nominate England, England for this month. My connection:
Wonder made me think of a theme park that used to exist when I was growing up called 'Wonderland' and I loved it until they shut down. This book has theme park elements to it :)
I nominate the book all about the epitome of Wonder - Walt Disney! and getting to learn something on the way :)I nominate The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company
This book is about the behind the scenes business strategies of the company that creates wonder and magic for all of us.
A non-fiction, and I believe a great book to read.
P.S. Bill Gates rated this book 4 stars.
For this challenge I'd like a book that fills the reader with a sense of wonder, that makes them question the ways they automatically view the world, and has them pondering ideas long after they've finished reading. The book that best meets those criteria for me is "Marcelo in the Real World" by Francisco X Stork, so I'd like to nominate it.
Suz An wrote: "I nominate Alice's Adventures in Wonderland"I second Alice's Adventures in Wonderland!
Ilona wrote: "I will nominate The Wonder by Emma Donoghue. The link is the title :)"I second this one
Zeejane (Sara) wrote: "I'd like to nominate Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance. The connection to the monthly theme comes from the book's GR blurb, which ends with, 'In this warm debut novel, Ruth Emmie..."I second Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance!
Megan wrote: "Ilona wrote: "I will nominate The Wonder by Emma Donoghue. The link is the title :)"I second this one"
I third this one.
I'd like to nominate The Wonderful World of Oz: The Wizard of Oz / The Emerald City of Oz / Glinda of Oz. Wonder is included in the title.
Joan wrote: "I'd like to nominate The Wonderful World of Oz: The Wizard of Oz / The Emerald City of Oz / Glinda of Oz. Wonder is included in the title."It looks like this is three novels in one? If so we need to choose the first in the series.
I would like to nominate Contacts which is about the wonder of humanity. Throughout this last year everyone has faced the challenges thrown up by the global pandemic and the kindness of strangers has been more important than ever. This is a story about James who boards the 23:50 sleeper train from London to Edinburgh. At 23:55 he sends a message to all 158 people in his contacts, telling them that he plans to end his life in the morning. He then switches his phone to flight mode. He’s said goodbye. To him, it’s the end of his story. This is a story about what happens next.
I would like to nominate Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon. It's been on my list forever and Wonder is in the title.
Ilona wrote: "I will nominate The Wonder by Emma Donoghue. The link is the title :)"Was just coming to nominate this, I second.
I would like to nominate Tent of Miracles by Jorge Amado. "Miracle" is a synonym for "Wonder". Also, the book is filled with wonderful characters.
I will also second The Night Circus! This has been on my TBR for a little while now and reading it with the group will definitely motivate me 😁
My vote is for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I was just talking a couple days ago about how I have never read this & would like to. :D
I would like to nominate A Place Called Here by Cecelia Ahern. The link to the theme is the wonderment of a place where lost/ missing things go, and a mystical, wonderful land.
Ilona wrote: "I will nominate The Wonder by Emma Donoghue. The link is the title :)"I second The Wonder by Emma Donoghue, wanted to read it for a while now :)
Wonder makes me think about when you wonder about something. A question. That makes me think of a mystery. I'd like to nominate
. This mystery specifically has a magical element (presumably) since the day will continue to start over until the death is solved which I think brings a bit of whimsical wonderment. Well, as whimsical as a murder mystery can get... 😏
Wonder makes you...well, wonder. So I nominate WonderIt is really a book which makes you wonder all along.
I’d like to nominate The Forest of Enchantments, as the positive aspects of religion have inspired wonder in me, although I’m not religious myself.
I second The Forest of Enchantments It's a wonderful book, similar in flavor to Palace of Illusions.
Bibliophile wrote: "I second The Forest of Enchantments It's a wonderful book, similar in flavor to Palace of Illusions."Looks like you already nominated The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company for the March group read, and you can either nominate or second a book, not both. Do you want to keep the original nomination or second the The Forest of Enchantments?

Oh I thought anyone can nominate one and second another if they like - I'd like to keep my original nomination intact in that case :) Thanks.
Poll is up! Go vote for the book you want to read in March! :D https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/2...

Time to nominate books for March. The theme is Wonder!
~ Please remember to state a connection to the theme when you nominate.
~ Books we have read less than three years ago are not eligble. To see which books are not eligble, see this google sheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
~ Each person can nominate 1 book.
~ Book must be available both as a physical copy and as an ebook.
~ Authors: Please do not nominate your own book.
~ Please do not nominate books that are part of a series, unless it is the first book.
~ You can second someone else's nomination, but that will count as your nomination.
This thread will be closed by January 26th, and we will choose ten books for the poll. If there are more than ten books nominated, we will choose "seconded" books first. If there is still a tie to get into the top ten, we'll go back to the Goodreads average rating to see which is highest.
