At the suggestion of a Norwegian friend, I started “Buzz Sting Bite” by Anne Sverdrup Trygeson. Also picked up “Daughter of the Reich” by Louise Fein. Two very different books. Nothing like a little variety to begin the new reading year!
I’m listening to HEROS by Steven Fry about Greek Hero’s from their past based on stories from pre history.
Wow! Without really trying, I've already read 10 books this year (blame the epidemic). I finished both books that started this column and I really, really enjoyed
The Thursday Murder Club which I recommend to everyone.
The Last Laugh: The World of Stand-Up Comics which was okay, but written in the first 70s, so seemed very dated.Answers in the Form of Questions: A Definitive History and Insider's Guide to Jeopardy!e who enjoys witty mysteries with sensible senior citizens.
Literary Rogues: A Scandalous History of Wayward Authors explained why I'm not a successful writer. I'm not addicted to either drugs or booze. I suppose I can always start.
I read
Answers in the Form of Questions: A Definitive History and Insider's Guide to Jeopardy! which is a behind the scenes look at Jeopardy! which is something I'm addicted to.
I Will Judge You by Your Bookshelf which is a graphic volume that was cute. I understood, too much, a lot of what was written.
Then I listened to MSNBC reporter, Jacob Soboroff's
Separated: Inside An American Tragedy a gut-wrenching view of what he saw in Texas where the children were separated from their parents and placed in "cages".
Hieroglyphics
No Time Like the Future: An Optimist Considers Mortality
The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse which was magnificent as an audio (even the book is graphic). I did request the book so I can see what I missed.
I'm now reading
Bag Man: The Wild Crimes, Audacious Cover-Up, and Spectacular Downfall of a Brazen Crook in the White House and listening to
Shuggie Bain
