I finished The Survivors, which was another great read by Jane Harper. I didn't pick it because of the Museum challenge, but it ended fitting, so great.

I'm starting now The River for the month challenge.

I am currently reading Best Kept Secret and Saint Christopher and the Gravedigger. I have been listing to Tar Baby but not really enjoying it much. I am almost done, so I will stick it out. I am going to start Winterkeep today. These are all for my museum challenge.

I finished Through Black Spruce this afternoon. It felt like it too forever to read this book, so I call it a bit of a snoozefest. I was disappointed because I really enjoyed the preceding books in this trilogy. I didn't even realize it was a trilogy until I went to update my review. The three books are loosely connected in that it covers different generations of the Bird family. Apparently they can be read in any order. It's a good thing I didn't read this first or I would have missed out on the other two.

I will start The Masked Rider: Cycling in West Africa tomorrow. It will also be for the museum challenge.

I finished listening to The Measure of a Man: A Spiritual Autobiography by Sidney Poitier read by the author - oh, what a smooth voice! I really enjoyed it and hearing his perspective on life - his experiences, values, spirituality, people, race, etc. He turned 94 on February 20 - he is an amazing individual and actor. I’m now juggling Girl, Woman, Other, American Spy, and An African in Greenland.

I dumped the audiobook for Tar Baby as DNF and started listening to Song of Solomon. Ugh, the author did not do herself any favors by narrating this one herself. I have switched over to reading the text. MUCH BETTER! I am still reading the other books and started listening to In the Woods for my audiobook selection.

I finished The Kingdom of Copper last night - finally! While I was reading it, another library hold came through. Why is it they all arrive at the same time? I will start The Scorpion's Tail. I hope I can fit it into my museum challenge somewhere.

A good read! Bitter Wash Road is the first of a series about a rural Aussie copshop run by a 'disgraced' ex-detective. (Moral: never ever rat on crooked cops.) Add me to the list of Garry Disher's fans!

I am struggling through Silver Heights for my museum read. So far, it is tough going. I am also reading All the Devils Are Here. After I finish the Penny book, I will be all caught up in the series until her new book comes out. I have just received The Scorpion's Tail and The River and am looking forward to those.

Sharon and Janice, I gave The River 4 stars. I think the writing was good, and the setting building amazing. I've seen that people who rates it low feels the mystery was weak. I do not think it is really a mystery novel, there isn't that much to figure out, but it certainly has its thrilling moments. Just my thoughts, so you do not feel disappointed. I hope you enjoy it!

I am starting today The Doctors Blackwell: How Two Pioneering Sisters Brought Medicine to Women and Women to Medicine.

I'm also buddy reading Wicked Bugs: The Louse That Conquered Napoleon's Army and Other Diabolical Insects with Jayme and Esther. We just started so if you feel like reading about gross stuff you are welcome to join.

I'm also almost done with Leaf Storm, and I'm listening to The Secret in Their Eyes when I have my hands busy.

Btw, I'm happy that it's March and I'm still sticking to my resolution of reading more non-fiction in 2021. :)

After a 10% I put aside The Doctors Blackwell: How Two Pioneering Sisters Brought Medicine to Women and Women to Medicine. The lives of the Blackwell sisters sounds amazing but this book is failing in keeping my attention. I'm not sure if it is me or the author, but I will try again later in the year.

I will start instead Anxious People.

Aussie author Susan Johnson has just released From Where I Fell. Two women from opposite sides of the world reveal more about themselves than they intended in their accidental email 'penpalship'. I loved the slightly naughty feeling of spying on them.

I just finished The Watchmaker's Daughter. I think I bought it from an Audible sale because the author's name is Archer to use for that task, but then I forgot that and read a different book with an Archer author so I read this one for the Daughter in title task and I really enjoyed it! I will check out the next one in the series. It was a fun story that didn't require too much of my brain power.

I really enjoyed Max Porter's unique young character, Lanny, in this unusual, fascinating mix of contemporary family story and ancient spirits. So good! (Made the Booker longlist)

Some people make arrangements for their own, inevitable Exit from life, but things don't go to plan in this mystery by Belinda Bauer. I loved its warmth and humour.

It is a dark and stormy day here. I am nursing some asthma. My meal for today is cooked and I am curled up and listening to the wind and rain waiting for the big stuff to hit. (Hopefully no tornadoes!) It is a good time to add atmosphere to the dark and mysterious Manderly and the mystery of what Jack and Wynn will get up to on the river. I love when a plan comes together!

I am finishing up Holding today. It took me a while to get all the characters straight, but once I did I started to enjoy it more. I'm looking forward to reading the conclusion today. I have some theories...

I'm also still reading The Rose Code, which I'm enjoying, and A Million Things. I didn't initially like the writing style of A Million Things. It has a choppy feel to it instead of being a smooth flowing story. I've gotten used to it now so I'm enjoying the story more, but it still isn't very quick to read.

I should be finished The Scorpion's Tail tonight. I debated about taking it with me to Edmonton, but I think I will.

I will start Inspector of the Dead next. It will be for my museum challenge.

And because my library hold finally came through, I am going to start Pony on the Twelfth Floor. I had it once and had to return it unread because there was another hold on it. I am going to get to it - this time! This is a middle grade book, recommended by Sandra. The illustrations in the story are terrific!

I think the mystery is stronger in some of the later stories, but not so much in this first book. I think Maisie is the mystery, as we get to know her. I loved the series!

I also love the series. I think this reread is reminding me who Masie really is. I love the book. I love Maisie. I may have to read another before i jump back into Les Misérables .

My husband keeps making me laugh by calling Les Miserables Les Mirror balls. Its creates an interesting picture in my mind. Fantine and Jean Val jean disco dancing. LOL

I finished Anxious People and gave it 4 stars. I had my doubts at the beginning, but I ended liking it a lot.

While I wait for the The Angel's Game buddy read, I will go for No One Writes to the Colonel for the "Reading Macondo" course I'm doing.

I'm reading Swimming Lessons at the moment. I had a bit of trouble getting into it, probably because I didn't much like the characters I met, but I'm more engaged now and liking it more. I was reading Lion in the Valley but kept getting sidetracked and had to give it back. In the meantime I saw that Murder at the Mena House was available through Kindle Unlimited and I could use it for the yearlong, so I have that one going too.

Megan Rapinoe is such a champion of soccer that it's going to be hard to top her. This is another great addition by Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara to the Little People BIG Dream series for kids.

I finished reading Murder at the Mena House this morning. I'm glad I found it. The main character is a woman with attitude in the 1920s. I'm still listening to The Rose Code but it's long and I probably won't be able to finish it before I have to return it, so I put a hold on the kindle version.
