What have you purchased? - 2021
@Rusalka, at least it's going to be cheaper now than newly published. :) I guess Lex will need to reread the first two books too.
He's a battler type. He'll just keep going until he remembers, over re-reading. But maybe I'll suggest he picks up the audio
That's what I did before reading the third book. Wikipedia should give him enough background to remember, plus I think there was a little back story in the beginning.
I picked up two books in Audible's 2/1 credit sale:The Witch's Boy by the same author who wrote The Girl Who Drank the Moon.
The Midnight Line to fit one of my museum tasks.
I've decided to skip the 2 for 1 sale. I've bought so many books lately that I haven't read yet and most of the ones I considered were available through my library which just reinforced the feeling of not needing any more. I did, however, grab the audio of Hadley & Grace as it was only $1.99 because I already owned the Kindle. I really enjoyed the group read of In an Instant and this is the same author.
Janice - I picked up a physical copy of The Witch's Boy not too long ago. Someone in this group recommended it (Was it Cherie??) and I also enjoyed The Girl Who Drank the Moon. I'm hoping to read it with G this summer.

I'll wait to see how you like it before I add it to my wishlist.
It probably was Cherie. She gave it 5 stars.
Kristie wrote: "I've decided to skip the 2 for 1 sale. I've bought so many books lately that I haven't read yet and most of the ones I considered were available through my library which just reinforced the feeling..."i also picked up Hadley & Grace in a recent sale. hopefully it will be decent.
I just ordered The Obesity Code and The Upside of Stress. I've read both of them quickly through the library, but wanted to have more time with them to read through them again slowly and think about them more as I go.
I used a credit and bought Project Hail Mary from Audible. I’m dying to listen to it but I have other books to finish first. ;o)
I just received in the mail:Belshazzar's Daughter
The Bungalow
Baking Cakes in Kigali
The House on Mango Street
Nights of Awe
Hild
Another Audible sale! https://www.audible.com/ep/otherworld...I picked up Reboot and Stiletto from my wish list. I also grabbed the daily deal, The Paris Secret.
I got today's daily deal from Audible - Never Far Away.I discovered quite by accident that there was a sale. I was checking out a possible nomination for the group themed read and it was on sale. I'll have to go back and check the other items.
Dawn wrote: "I loved 'Hild'. Thought it was a great story. And 'Belshazzar's Daughter' looks very good!"
Oh that's great to hear, Dawn. Thanks!
It does, doesn't it. Will let you know when I eventually get there.
I bought two ebooks from Barnes & Nobel. The Three Locks to kill off a series and
Raft of Stars, a book Roz recommended to me.
Katrisa wrote: "Oh no! The new Audible sale spells danger for me! I found like 5 books I want on the first page!"They are all fantasy and sci-fi. I've got a few books picked out.
Ya, fantasy and sci-fi are favorites of mine. Even if I limit myself to series I have already started or own parts of I think this sale will cost me, lol!
Hmm, didn't realize there was a sale until I read it here. Now I have 36 books in my cart. I think that is too much.....
lol, Dawn. That sounds like what I did with the recent sale. I haven't gotten anything new from the sale aside from the two from my wishlist that I mentioned earlier. There are a few I've been interested in, but nothing that I want enough to purchase, although I haven't really gone through it fully yet. I hope to see if some of the series I've started are included, but so far the next book for me isn't included, just ones I already own or have already read. SF/Fantasy isn't my go to genre, so this one shouldn't be too bad for me.
After whittling my list down I ended up with these from the audible saleDune: The Duke of Caladan
Harrow the Ninth
Stiletto
Persepolis Rising
Tiamat's Wrath
Seventh Decimate
The Queens of Innis Lear
The Kingdom of Gods
Katrisa - Have you already read Gideon the Ninth? That’s one I was considering. I love the covers of those books and they sound interesting.
Kristie I read Gideon the Ninth during our Toppler last month and enjoyed it. I have been planning to buy the next one so I was happy to find it on the sale list!
I spent time this morning going through the sale and whittling my list down to 3. I will probably go through the sale one more time before I buy.
I got a parcel of books which I think is the last of my mid year splurge in the mail today. I received:The Nickel Boys
Slade House
The Nightingale
Please Look After Mother
The Beekeeper of Aleppo
Kristie wrote: "SF/Fantasy isn't my go to genre, so this one shouldn't be too bad for me...."They are definitely genres I really like and there is a lot of good looking books in the sale. I will have to reduce it by at least half before I buy anything though.
Dawn wrote: "Kristie wrote: "SF/Fantasy isn't my go to genre, so this one shouldn't be too bad for me...."They are definitely genres I really like and there is a lot of good looking books in the sale. I will ..."
Thank god all the sales on the UK site are rubbish so far this year. They start a new sale most sundays so here's hoping my luck will hold and I won't be tempted this sunday either ;-p
I just got my buddy read Lake Silence on Google books for $2.99. It is also $2.99 on kindle. I don't know how long.
I succumbed! I think tomorrow is that last day of the sale, and I'm not looking any more. I picked up all three books in The Bridei Chronicles.
Janice wrote: "I succumbed! I think tomorrow is that last day of the sale, and I'm not looking any more. I picked up all three books in The Bridei Chronicles."I really wanted that because the Shadowfell series was one of my favorites of last year and I want to read more of her. But I already bought Daughter of the Forest so that will be my next of her series and none of those were in the sale. I really tried to limit myself to buying series I was already collecting or stand alone books by authors I already love otherwise I would have wanted to buy like 36 books like Dawn lol!
I ended up with 22 books in the Audible sale. Might still have been too many but they looked good and they were a really good price. What can I say..... :)The Quantum Thief
Gun Runner
The Circuit: The Complete Saga
Blackfish City
The Society of the Sword Trilogy
The Guns Above
The Court of Broken Knives
Strange Practice
An Alchemy of Masques and Mirrors
Will Save the Galaxy for Food
The Oncoming Storm
Starship Grifters
The Cloud Roads
Low Town
Gnomon
Gideon the Ninth
The Wolf in the Whale
Legacy of Ash
A Hero Born
Docile
The Library of the Unwritten
Vita Nostra
I've got a couple of those books to listen to Dawn. I read The Wold in the Whale on Kindle and I really enjoyed it.
I picked up The Library of the Unwritten and Gideon the Ninth in the sale. I almost picked up The Stone Sky because I own the first two in the trilogy, but it is available through my library so I really don't need to buy it.
Dawn wrote: "That one looked really interesting. Someone also mentioned 'Gideon the Ninth' was good."I've got Gideon the Ninth but haven't read it yet.
There's another Audible sale where you get coupons for using credits. I only have 3 credits (though I'll likely restart my subscription early). I'm not sure how many I want to use now. It seems there is almost a constant sale going on lately.
I just renewed so have a whack of credits, but I'm not going to do the sale unless the books are on my wishlist and what I really want.
It's one where you get a coupon for using credits. "Use 2 credits for a $5 coupon, 4 credits for a $10 coupon, or 6 or more credits for a $20 coupon." You can use the credits on any book you want. There is no specific sale selection.
I ended up using my 3 credits and switching back to my 24 plan. I bought the daily deal a couple of days ago, After Alice Fell.
I got a couple of whispersync deals, The Good Lie & The Day She Came Back.
And I used 6 credits in the sale:
Steel Fear
Win
An Unexpected Peril
The Garden of Angels
The Night She Disappeared (preorder)
Gone for Good (preorder)
Having bought on the last day and with 2 preorders, I'm sure I'll have to call them for my coupon. I have had to call the last three times, so I'll be shocked if they get it right.
I need an intervention, plain and simple. I started out the year with good intentions. *sigh*I bought today's Daily Deal, The Mask of Mirrors
I also used 4 credits to get a $10 coupon:
Mary Jane
The Book of Accidents
Half Sick of Shadows
Nolyn (pre-order)
I was going to only use 2 credits, but then I added a 3rd book to the cart and had to make it count towards the $10 coupon so added a 4th..
I picked up the daily deal from audible today because I like fantasy and my library doesn't have this oneThe Mask of Mirrors
