We had freezing rain during the night, and still have from time to time now so school was cancelled. My kids' school got an authorization to implement Flexible Instruction Days when school is closed due to the weather. This is a change the pandemic brought. If we are all used by now to remote learning, why would we miss a day we'll have to make up in summer. So I have again my kids around the house doing school work. No zooms, though, thank goodness.

It is snowing here in Hillsboro. I took my granddaughter to the grocery store on my lunch break and it started snowing just as she got out to the car with the cart full of groceries.

I received an invitation yesterday from the Internet Archive to attend a "virtual ribbon cutting, panel discussion and screening of the documentary Harold and Lillian: A Hollywood Love Story" later today

It's a celebration because the Michelson Cinema Research Library has been donated to the organisation and they're in the process of digitising it and making as much as possible freely available online,

The blog for more info is here. The library sounds amazing. And the couple that collected it do too.

I was thinking of going to the event, but January 27 from 4:00—6:30 PM (Pacific Time) translates to midnight to 2.30AM UK time. I don't think that's so wise on a work day.

Apparently, "A Hollywood Love Story" is streaming on Netflix, so I'm going to have a look for it at the weekend.

I passed my language arts and writing GED test today with a very high score. I actually ended in the 96% percentile. My writing portion got a 5/6! I thought all of you, who are used to read my "writing" every day, would be as surprised as I am. :D

I'm sitting here with an ice pack on my ankle. I think I've strained a tendon. Have been keeping off it since sunday - actually enjoying the rest ;-)

Oh no!! Take care of your self. I did that in December and it actually took longer to heal my sprained ankle than my fractured foot!

Ankle injuries still make me cringe. I strained my ankles several years ago, one much worse than the other. It took forever to heal. I actually had to go for physical therapy a couple of years after the injury and still do ankle exercises to this day to prevent re-injury. To your point Jayme, my doctor said I would have been better off if I had broken it. Apparently, tearing things takes much longer to heal.

I sounds like both of you did way more damage to yourselves than me. I think it is my Achilles tendon and it feels strained rather than snapped. Of course, given the times we live in, this is self diagnosis. Th8s happened a few years ago and the GP sent me for physio, this time we're in lockdown so no physio open :(

Margo, I hope your ankle gets better soon. I guess a couple of days for resting are welcome, but it is annoying to be unable to do things when we have to!

Yes, these are frustrating times, Margo. Do you remember what they had you do last time? Maybe you can do the same exercises or rest & ice, etc that they had you do before?

Yes I remember the exercises ,I think all of them. I'm doing them 3 times a day with lots of ice in between.

Sandra, you're right, it's very frustrating but it's my own fault- I was overdoing it.

The physio had a devise that she rubbed against the back of my ankle for maybe 15 minutes every session. It felt like it helped a lot but I never got around to asking her what it was.

Could you call them, Margo, and ask? You may not be able to go in, but they should still have access to your file and may be able to suggest an alternative at home.

My friend is head of the ER I went to, I think she is still laughing. She bought me a pair of safety goggles to wear next time i bake

I remember one time I was making cookies and I dropped an eggshell into the mixer and tried to turn it off but instead turned it up higher which smashed the eggshell into tiny pieces. But who doesn't like crunchy cookies? 😁

We've got extreme winter weather coming our way, the likes of which we only see once every 10-20 years. Up to 30cm of snow combined with very strong winds, and temperatures as low as -15C (which is probably a very usual thing for someone like Janice in winter ;-))

It seems the south where I live will get the least of it, thankfully. There will be huge differences between north and south, which I always find strange given our country is so small that you can drive from south to north in 3.5 hours.

I don't know how much snow we've had since Feb 1st, but it's like Mother Nature held all of it in and expunged it all over a few days. I've been shoveling almost every day. Yesterday there was at least 3 inches (7cm) on the driveway.

30cm is a lot of snow, Peggy, even for us. I don't think we had that much since Feb 1st, but close.

We have an extreme cold temperature warning in place. Right now, it's -30C (-22F) and it's expected to dip to -40C/F overnight. I am not leaving the house until Tuesday.

We had 20 cm on Wednesday and expect another 10 next week. But we are used to it and have the equipment to deal with it. It takes a lot to shut Quebec down.

It is a weird winter.
Usually this time of year it is too cold for snow. But it has not been lower than -25C. Almost toasty when you expect -35C, -40C.
It is -4C now. I am sure there will be people doing BBQ tonight.
