Haha yes indeed. I spent the week sanding my boat so the dust from that, paint fumes, and pollen won't have helped much.

Well the whole of England is pretty depressed today after the football loss last night! I'm not a football fan but I always like to watch England in the championships. I don't like it when they lose though, not specifically because they lost, but because I wasted a couple of hours of my life watching it and I can't get that back lol To be fair to them, it was actually a pretty good game, just unlucky with the penalties. But it's the closest we've been in a long time.I started back at work today, just the one client to ease me in gently haha So very happy to be back seeing clients again. I start back face to face in August which will be very strange!
This little bit of ireland is also pretty down in the dumps sarah! Pete loves most sport so we were glued to it. I'm like you, I only watch big matches, but last night was a real nail biter. They played so well throughout the euros I'd say they have have a great chance at the world cup next year. Wasn't it weird in the official photographs at the end seeing them under a banner reading 2020? It underlined the fact that last year was cancelled lolOur situation here is a bit more under control. The new equipment is really making life easier and calmer. Mum is happier and I actually got some time read over the weekend and I'm planning to start a buddy read tomorrow 📖 📖 📖
Strange thing going on here. We're such a small country, and the very south (30 minutes from here) is suffering 3 days of severe rain. For example only today there's 100mm of rain, while normally there's 80mm in all of July. Same yesterday and probably tomorrow. It's in the hilly part of the country, so there's a lot of streets under water, people have been evacuated, streams and rivers are overflowing. It's similar in parts of Belgium. How are things where you are Saar?
Where I live, it's rainy, but that's it.
In the rest of the country, hardly any rain at all.
@Peggy: it's similar here, but I live in West - Flandres, near the North Sea, so it's not raining as much. More south, it's really bad. I saw floods, little landslides...on the news. Rivers and streams are overflowing too. Last week there was someone who fel into a stream, got trapped in the current and went under in the sewage system. I immediately thought of the scene in 'It'. I'm not sure if they found the poor man. In the south of the country (more hills and forests) it's code orange. The highest code is red. It's just the strangest weather and too cold. I've got a sweater and was wondering if I'm going to put on my scarf.
The weather alarm just went to red here, for the very south. It's dry now but later this evening and in the night there will be lots more. Several rivers are about to overflow.
Here also. We've got green, beneath us, yellow, in the centre orange, but then south red. It's still raining and it will get worse during the night. I saw the news and it was insane. There's a complete village that was flooded away. I can't remember that it rained so badly.
The footage is so unreal. Streets in city centers have become wild rivers, cars are floating through the streets, houses have collapsed, people are dead or missing. I have never seen anything like this before, at least not here. All this water is now going towards the big rivers which are expected to reach their highest points in almost ever in the coming days.
Wow, that sounds scary! We have had orange alerts for the past week and lots of rain and thunder but thankfully little flooding. The humidity has stayed at about 90% which is really bad for my arthritis.Stay safe Peggy and Saar.
@Peggy: it's unreal, indeed and due to climate change. We could have this every 5 years...And it's still raining. I feel so bad for all these people. The costs are immense. Now some cities are getting evacuated, because there are expectations of a metre and a half flooding. Some villages are situated lower than others, because it's mostly hills in that part of the country. The rain is now moving to Germany and things are already bad there.@Margo: I hope you're not hurting to bad, Margo. I live in the northern part of the country, so we don't have flooding, thankfully...Only hard winds.
Oh gosh guys, please stay safe!!Peggy, get out early if you can. Move up to higher ground or get out if roads look like they are going to get cut off (please don't drive through flood waters!). Not sure where you are in town, and what the town is like, but planning for the worst is best. Remember, they are just things.
Thanks! But we're safe :) We're relatively high above water level and not in an area that's in danger when rivers overflow (there are a lot of maps out now with the areas that are in danger marked, and we're far enough from it). And the rain has mostly stopped as well. But I'm keeping track of the latest news anyway, just in case.
Oh good!!! That's really good news.Raining isn't really a factor, it's what runs down stream. Here we have lots of problems in places a day or two after it stops raining, and all the water make it to the lowest level. But sounds like you've got the best resources and are keeping an eye on it.
And in sympathy, it's just started pouring here too.
Yes, this is also due to the rain that fell in the past two days. The high water levels are slowly expanding to the north. But as it stopped raining so heavily, at least that doesn't make things even worse and they can make calculations without having to factor in possible extra rainfall.

There's one province here that is really badly affected. There's even the danger of a dam that could break and then it will get worse...The villagers are sitting hours on the roof, because the firemen don't know where to go first. It's just apocalyptical. We've never had that here in Belgium...And then I saw the news about the villages in Germany. Horrible!
https://youtu.be/sha5DA_NrQoThis is a webcam link with aerial views over my city. We drove over the bridge this morning and just past it the water reached the road. There was a caravan floating around between trees, very near to the road. It was so shocking to see it for real (instead of photos and videos) I cried. And now I feel stressed and depressed.
I should probably stop watching the news but I can't help checking it non-stop.
Also, instead of a 'peak' of high water which quickly gets lower, it's now predicted that the peak will be this high for 36 hours. It's questioned whether all dykes and stuff like that can hold such amounts of water for such a long time.
It's so shocking to see your video and the images I saw this morning on Germany & Belgium. I've been thinking of you and Saar so much over the last couple of days. Please take care.
It is upsetting, Peggy, but I understand it is difficult to just stop watching the news. Maybe you can limit what you see. Let's say watch the news in the morning and cut it for the rest of the day, unless it is necessary for you to stay updated for safety reasons.
I understand what news overload is like. When the World Trade Centers were hit on 911, I couldn't stop watching the news.
I'm glad that I don't live in the affected areas of our country, nevertheless, I feel for the victims and their families. There are some actions going on by raising money, food, clothes...because some regions will not have drinkable water or electricity for weeks. There's a huge solidarity. The clean up has begon, but the deathtoll and missing persons still rises. The rain is now heading Austria, where it's getting bad too.
It was the same for me at the start of the pandemic Sandra.Yesterday was stressful because my city was in the danger zone and it was uncertain what would happen. Now water levels here are dropping so I feel less obsessed with the news already.
My notifications seem to be not working again.
It's hard to believe that kind is real. I've heard of flash flooding but have not witnessed it till now. It is devastating. I think it is important to stay up to date with the news Peggy. I'm sure you are feeling very distressed and impotent.
Ironically, we're having a heat wave this week with temps around 30C, which is as hot as it usually gets here. The skys are clear and expected to stay that way for a week. Can't enjoy it thinking about you guys.
Glad you are okay Peggy and Saar. It has looked rater insane from here, so glad you guys are safe.Peggy, I completely get the obsession with the news. When we have fires around us here, I usually have 10 windows of news, weather, twitter, and emergency services open constantly. It's full on, but I can't stop until I know things are safe.
I completely understand that, Peggy, how is it now in your city? Here it's cloudy, but hot. It will be dry for the rest of the week with high temperatures. I alos can't stop checking the news.
Wow Peggy hope things are easing there for you. There were flash floods here in London and the South East too, quite bad in places I believe. We had a lot of rain near me too but no flooding thqqnkfully. Now we have a heat wave. It is sooooo hot. And with my little kitty, I can''t have the doors open. Yesterday it was 34C in my boat. I made a screen for the door to stop Kylo going out and fresh air to come in. I've been doing a lot of boating this week as i'm heading for the dry dock. On Saturday i did the big 29 lock flight which took 5 hours the sun was brutal. I have some more to do this afternoon then i'll be pretty much there.I bought a standup paddleboard yesterday, arrives next week, so looking forward to using it. There are a lot of groups locally who meet up to do it so thought it would be a nice thing to get involved in.
That paddleboard sounds like fun, Sarah. Someone suggested that I get an electric scooter as a means to get around. It's like a skateboard with a handle. I considered it and thought I'd prefer the ones that have a seat. But I figured if I was good to drive one of those, I was good to drive a car. So my son said to give my eyesight another month and then he will come with me and we'll test how I do driving a car. It's one thing being a passenger and thinking you can do it, it's another being in the driver's seat. And if I panic, he's there to take over.
Standup paddleboard sounds like a fun way of exercising, Sarah.Looks like a good plan, Janice. I hope things go well, and you are back driving soon.
Is Kylo going well, Sarah? And nice on the paddleboard! Those things are pretty fun but hard. Nice work on the locks. That's pretty full on.Glad everyone in wet, Western Europe is okay!

Rusalka wrote: "Mine are still wonky. They are usually odd, but only got sporadic ones yesterday and today. More won..."Yeah. Today is being the same as yesterday for me too. :/
Yes, I haven't ben getting notifications either. I got a couple, but then nothing again. Sarah - The paddleboard sounds nice. I've only used one a few times, but I found it enjoyable. It'll be a great way to get out and be with people while getting some fresh air and exercise. All good.
Janice - I hope your test run goes well!
Re: weather - It sure seems like we (collectively) can't catch a break with the weather and natural disasters. I don't know if it's more frequent or just reported more or maybe I'm just paying more attention, but it certainly feels like there is always something to worry about now. Fires, floods, heat waves, etc... Stay safe out there.

Kylo is good. Annoying as hell right now as sshe basically uses me as a climbing frame so my legs are shredded.

I agree about the scooter thing. And doing a test drive with your sun sound like a good idea.
@Sarah: a stand up paddleboard looks like fun. Is it the same as a sup - board? That's what it's called here, I think. That sounds like a good idea, Janice. If you can ride again, it's a bit of freedom that you've got back.
