Kristie | 19139 comments I remember a while back you saying you were working on some issues, Travis. I'm sorry you weren't able to work it out. It's always difficult when a marriage ends.

message 704: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19139 comments Janice, do you have the little black beta button? The one in the bottom right hand corner of my screenshot with what looks like a megaphone? That is where I can give feedback or switch back. It sounds like yours is switched over already, which is strange when it's still in beta mode here. You'd think they'd switch it all over at the same time.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Well I guess on the bright side Sarah probably has room for one more and we know we both like books lol

Just kidding I actually kind of hate water lol

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments It's alright. Things are going well. We aren't divorced we have a legal separation so everything is laid out and agreed upon as far as our personal property, bank accounts, custody of kids etc. Basically the ground work for divorce but we're legally married and going to counceling once a month. Which I have mixed feelings about that. On one hand for the kids it would be nice to work it out but on the other hand I've always been a believer that there's billions of people on earth how much effort do you put into a relationship before you say maybe just find someone new. For now the kids have adjusted well. They get dropped off every morning and I take them to school and I get them every other weekend. Working on getting out of at least dairy farming and going more into crop farming or maybe I'll just quit farming and find a nice 40 hour a week job instead of working 100 hours a week. Being by yourself and having time to reflect and think about things is kind of nice as I try to figure out where to go from here. Sky's the limit I guess . I am getting along quite well except w few weekw ago when my grandma got sick and died and my dad had to go to Tennessee to deal with all that and I had no help and between the work load and the grief and everything that week about broke me but I've picked myself up and am doing good again

I do have the megaphone beta button. I never realized that's what it was for. I can leave feedback! Yay! Thanks for pointing that out.

Get that. But be interested in how it works for non Americans. I mean, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, Libraries, just from you example are non players in my world. Will be interesting in what happens.

Thanks for the screenshots. Nothing on my end.

message 713: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Lots of love to you Travis. That's a lot of change for you all at once. It sounds spaced out, but these things do tend to hit you all together. Sorry for the loss of your grandma, and to hear you and your wife are working through things. Remember we are all here for you.

Glad the kids are wonderful. They do seem to be a great equaliser in life. We as adults focus on the big, which they do too, until they realise they just want chicken nuggets for dinner.

Good luck with the decision about the farm. I get the massive pull towards something else less stressful, particularly at the moment. But it's a big decision.

I put in all my own book links for Canada. Not that I find them very useful but you can add all your own. I switched to Amazon.ca and put in 2 of my local libraries as well as a few used book sites.

Oh that's great to know, Dawn. Thanks. I always ignore it as I've never been able to make it relevant. I hadn't realised it was now possible.

I was thinking that those are probably the biggest book suppliers in our area and maybe in other countries it would be whatever the biggest book suppliers are there. I really don't know, but the beta users weren't all from the US so hopefully they got some decent feedback.

message 717: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I've been feeling a bit down the past couple of days. Not one specific thing, just one of the downs in the covid ups and downs of the last year It's also not helping that the lockdown seems neverending and that it's still been too grey and rainy and cold. I was hoping for better weather by now!

But, even though it's only 12C today I've been reading in the sun in the garden in a sleeveless top for the past 3 hours. I think I really needed that, so I feel a bit better.

message 718: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Rainy gloomy days is the worst thing for me. Nothing like some sun shine

message 719: by Sandra, Moderator (last edited Apr 17, 2021 06:21AM) (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Gray days also affect me. We had beautiful blue, sunny days the last weeks, and I felt the difference in my mood. But the weather has been bad the last few days again and I am feeling the lack of energy already.

uncomfytomato | 265 comments I've finally found a place where I can donate books in my country! I found a small business bookstore to donate and they'll come pick the 22 books over the weekend.

I hated seeing some of the books sitting in my room collecting dust >_< specially the books I ended up hating and just seeing them bothers me.

message 728: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments So when my wife left she basically took every picture and painting except wedding photos. So I was cleaning and finally on an impulse got the nerve to take them down and stick them in a closet. Gotta be honest I didn't realize that was gonna kick me in the feelings quite as much as it did. Wasn't expecting it to effect me at all to be honest

That sucks Travis. And it's amazing how things only hit us when we do something different or change something normal up. Look after you, and hope you have some great photos of the kids you can put in their places soon. *hug*

message 731: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3029 comments I agree, that really sucks Travis 😞 And, I really like Rusalka’s idea of kid pics - instead of a void, it could be something that brings you joy 🥰 And, be kind to yourself ❤️

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments The weirdest thing just happened with the GR app. For some reason I was seeing someone else's notifications. I couldn't see mine, just this person's. It was like being in that person's account, but only for the notifications. In my computer my account was working ok. It was only in the app in my cell phone. I changed my password, because I didn't know what else to do, singed out and in a few times, and always his notifications were there instead of mine. After 5 or 6 tries my account was finally normal again when I signed it, but it was super weird.

message 733: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19139 comments Craig planned a visit with my daughters and grandson for my birthday. They all got here yesterday. We had a really great day today and another full day planned tomorrow before they need to head home again on Sunday. It's been so nice having them here.

message 734: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments Sandra, that was very weird! I'm glad it's back to normal.

Happy Birthday Kristie. I'm glad you got to visit with your daughters and grandson for your birthday weekend.

Grainne Coughlan | 1297 comments Happy birthday Kristie! 🥳🥳🥳 I am glad to hear that you had a great day and there’s more to come for the weekend.

That unusual Sandra. Luckily, it’s resolved itself and changing your password is a good idea. It will give you peace of mind at least. It should work ok again.

Rusalka, there's a podcast that I like every Friday called mysterious universe and it's 2 Australians. In the midst of discussing the thousands year pygmy vs crane wars the one guy says we'll thats similar to here in Australia and the great Emu war of 1932. I like how essentially the Emus won because the army was using 10 bullets on average per Emu and decided the cost wasn't worth it and so they ended their war allowing the Emus to win by forfeit. Great piece of history I never knew lol

Also anytime they say well that's like here in Australia you know some crazy thing is about to be said given the nature of the podcast to begin with

message 738: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Also it was interesting as they discuss the pygmy crane war and how mentions of it are throughout history that Homer talks of it in the Iliad and they read part of it and I was like oh yeah this is one of the parts of Homer that the story seems to take a sidebar to something and I got lost following it. There's a few parts of either the Iliad or the Odyssey that happened to me

Sounds interesting, Travis. I do love the Emu War. I believe they only managed to kill one Emu too.

Never got the reference to the pygmy crane war either. I guess I never thought of Pygmaian's as pygmys.
