@Margo: do you know what species it its? I've got the Atropurpureum, who gets a lovely color of purper and red and then the Katsura, who has an interesting green color. I've read that, because you've plant them in the garden, the ones I have stay around 1 or 1,5 meters in length and 1 meter width. The leaves are so soft and thin :)

Thanks for all well wishes everyone. You are a powerful group with your collective energy! I arrived home a few hours ago. I'm super exhausted but am enjoying the peaceful solitude - nobody poking at me, drawing blood at 3:00 am, or using their torture devices (flashlights) to look at my eyes.Rehab did some assessments yesterday and said I was doing so well that I could go home instead of being transferred to my local hospital. I can contact community rehab if I feel the need for it. I do have some visual deficits, resulting in balance issues. Some words are tricky. "Mollycoddle", for example, no longer runs smoothly off my tongue. It sounded more like "Moddlecolly". Hopefully they will ease over time. My goal is complete recovery but if that is not to be, then I will have to learn to cope and adapt. Time will tell.
I had wanted to do the toppler with you all, but tomorrow is going to be a busy day.
I'm not quite ready to pick up the reigns of the museum challenge, so the remaining mod squad are allowed to mollycoddle me for a little bit longer. I'm so grateful for this great team of women who have their own challenges to deal with yet were willing to help when I needed it. Huge thank you's Rusalka, Peggy, Kristie, and Sarah.
I'm sure you'll feel so much better being able to sleep at home without anyone waking you up to make sure you are ok. I always feel like people would recover faster if they'd just let you sleep. You're very welcome. You know we are all in this team together and here to help however we can. You're always jumping right in to help us when needed too. Take your time. We'll all be here when you're ready.
Janice, it is fantastic to see you around! Take it easy and rest, that is the best you can do. Being home is a relief.
Hope you had a good night’s sleep in your own bed, Janice. Glad you are better and wishing you all the best on your recovery.
Lol - From an article in The New York Times about Prince Philip: “In more recent years, I am told, he extolled the joys of his Kindle until, disgusted by all the direct marketing of books he didn’t want to read, he threw it in the bath.”

Been offline today, so great to see you home and back home here :D
Welcome home, Janice! I am so glad you are doing well enough to be home. Rest well and build up your strength. Only happy thoughts, sweet prayers and well wishes are headed your way!.
Welcome back Janice. Good to see you frequenting YLTO again. Take it easy, we've got things covered.
Janice wrote: "Thanks for all well wishes everyone. You are a powerful group with your collective energy! I arrived home a few hours ago. It's so good to have you back, we missed you ❤
Thanks, but I think I could end up with pressure sores on my butt from sitting. I'm going to try to wend my way down the stairs today.
I spent the weekend Bournemouth. It was the first weekend back of my training job down there. The hotels here are still closed to the general public but we were able to hold the training course there as it falls under education. I could stay in a different hotel as I was classed as an essential worker and I had to provide proof. It was so strange staying overnight in a hotel where there were no other guests. Very eerie. I've not seen a hotel so dead since The Overlook Hotel in The Shining. Haha! So good to be back doing it and was a nice change of scenery.Tomorrow I'm driving down to the marina where my new boat is to take some measurements and make note of things I missed the last time I saw it. Only 1 week tomorrow until it gets surveyed. Getting excited now, also impatient, and pretty nervous too in case it throws something major up.
Oh Janice! I took a bit of a break (again) and so very sorry to read in the comments that you have been unwell but so very pleased to see that you are on the road to recovery. Lots of rest and TLC.
@Sarah: I also thought immediately of the Overlook Hotel, haha :) It must indeed feel really strange to be the only person there.
I have to stay at a hotel for work next weekend, Sarah. I sometimes work as an official for college track and field. Last weekend was my first time back in a long time. One of my requests in order for me to work was that I get my own hotel room. I don't want to share with someone I don't know, especially right now. The coordinator just sent an email saying the hotel rooms are difficult to come by and can some of us double up or drive both days. I live about 100 miles (161km) away, so it's a bit far to drive there and back two days in a row. Apparently, between the college students and officials the hotel is going to be pretty packed. I'm not real thrilled about that, but I'll spend most of my time in my room while I'm in there.
Thanks for all the well-wishes. Each day seems to be a bit better. I went downstairs and worked for a couple of hours this morning which has given me a bit more confidence. That was funny about the Overlook Hotel. Here, hotels are open but you don't get housekeeping making beds/cleaning each day. Alan had to request them to come in and clean out the garbage after several days. They'd only enter the suite if they knew he was away.
Sandra wrote: "I'm not having notifications again. So annoying."I've been having notification issues for a couple of days now. Now I'm only getting notifications for people liking my reviews, etc, but nothing for thread updates and such. I've started going in through discussions instead.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the revamp they're doing on the book pages. They change one thing and other things go wonky.
Same for me too. I think Janice is right - it must be something to do with the revamp. Every time I tried to search books yesterday, it would say the page couldn't be found.
I've been in Austin for the past week, visiting my son/family and looking at condos. I was a little nervous about the trip but we masked up at all times and stayed clear of crowds as much as possible. We ate in a restaurant once. The part that made me the most nervous was the airport. I'm fully vaccinated now but my husband isn't. Unfortunately, we had to make the trip. The prices of condos (or any housing) is going up. Places we saw last year listed at $300,000 are now over $500,000. Sheesh! If covid hadn't got in the way, we'd have moved last year. We saw one that we liked and put a bid in but didn't get it. Just as well. That would have been moving really quickly. We're getting our present house ready to put on the market (prices are going up here too, so that's good). But we have to have a place to move to, before we sell this one. Very nerve racking.I'm glad to see you're on the mend Janice. Going up and down stairs is a big step.
Roz, buying a house and moving is as exciting as stressing. I hope yo find something soon and everything goes smoothly. Good luck!
Re notifications: This is a problem that reappears from time to time. Same with the glitch when trying to add book links to comments. I think we are all used to them now. They get fixed at some point. It always surprises me because it is amazon behind this, not a couple of teenagers.
I got some notifications this morning, but not anymore. I guess it is a good thing since I am supposed to work from home this morning. :)
I'm not sure that I like the new book page. I find it very tricky to change editions and not add duplicates. I wish there was some kind of feedback. While I understand why they disbanded the feedback group, it's frustrating to not have any feedback at all. Their help pages are so user unfriendly, it's ridiculous. Aesthetically, I find the the new pages have everything so large, it's kind of overwhelming. One benefit is that I can see the covers better. And I find the placement of some items is less than helpful. You have to scroll down so far to find some things.
They've been running it as a beta for a while now. I can switch back and forth between the old and new pages. I kind of like the new one because everything is so big. (I kind of feel like it was made for old folks with bad eyes, like large type books. lol) I do think it will take a while to get used to. I gave some feedback early on about things I liked and didn't. There were a couple of things I suggested didn't need to be quite so prevalent, such as the other suggested books. I think it would be easier to find what you were looking for if not everything was so large and in your face. Others, like the larger book covers, I really liked.
Thanks Kristie! I guess I'll get used to it soon enough. Not sure what I think of the added kindle price link..
I don't like the new page....maybe it is change...I don't like change lol
Thanks for the screenshots, Kristie. It looks weird, but I guess that one gets used to it soon enough. Still, I have issues with the fact that they keep doing "cosmetic" changes instead of fixing what doesn't work, or could work better, both in the webpage and the app.
Peggy wrote: "Thanks Kristie! I guess I'll get used to it soon enough. Not sure what I think of the added kindle price link.."Amazon owns Goodreads, so I'm sure they aren't going to change that. However, what I do like about it is that if you click on the little up arrow next to it, it gives you options to go to Amazon, Audible, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, Apple Books, Libraries, and 'More Options.' Right now, even though the tab is smaller, they only link to Kindle.
I haven't been able to switch back and forth. All the books come up in the beta format. I'll look closer. (Nope, no option to switch back.)I like the big cover. Everything else could be a bit more compact.
I'm getting a lot of "that book doesn't exist" after the page has been loaded for a few seconds. It's seems to happen when you try to change editions.
