While it’s getting rave reviews, I’m afraid that Ella Baxter’s quirky debut novel, New Animal didn’t grab me to that extent. I consider myself broad-minded, but maybe I’m too Boomer and not Millennial enough. And perhaps it suffered from being read concurrently with a truly brilliant NetGalley read. 3★s

I'm still loving having Kerry Greenwood's Corinna Chapman series read to me, even if Louise Siverson's version of Daniel isn't the same as the one in my head. Cooking the Books is an excellent summer read.5★s

Aussie author, Vicki Tyley’s debut crime novel, Thin Blood is excellent, and will have most readers guessing right up to the final pages. By taking a huge lateral leap, I guessed the murderer a third of the way in, but it was still a gripping tale to follow, and I have another four books by this author to enjoy.4★s

Debra Oswald is a popular Aussie playwright, scriptwriter, and novelist whose brand new 'what-would-you-do' mystery/thriller, The Family Doctor, has just been released. What a nerve-wracking read!
4.5★ rounded up Link to my Family Doctor review
My review for The Narrow Road to the Deep North, a small abomination of a book using a war as a prop to make the main character's adulteries seem less childlike than they are.
My review for the creepy book The Shadow Man by Helen Sarah Fields

A friendship that consists of emails between two women who never meet, beginning after an email goes to the wrong person. Only a talented author like Susan Johnson could create a novel entirely of emails, and make it work. From Where I Fell is a 5★ read.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
a debut novel by AA Hilde HintonIt really left me more than a bit put out - it is well written, vivid in descriptiveness but seems to have no plot, story arc or point.
I still can't get my head around why someone wrote it, or why someone published it. Two stars because there is good in it, but they should be black stars, for the frustration value.

4 stars for this contemporary/domestic drama
The Godmothers by Monica McInerneyhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I completely enjoyed both the story and the audio narration of Honeybee by Aussie author Craig Silvey. Sam is only 14 years old, but it's been a long 14 years when you can't trust anybody. Loved it!

I know the sedate pace of this family saga, A Spool of Blue Thread won't suit everyone, but I do love Anne Tyler books, and KImberly Farr does an excellent job of the narration.5★s

I recently finished listening to Say Nothing: A True Story Of Murder and Memory In Northern Ireland. The author (who happens to be half Australian) has done an incredible job of piecing together the who, what and why of The Troubles for people like me starting from a low base. Reads like the best of the best true crime (which it is).https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This is a twisty psychological thriller with a teenage girl with multiple personality disorder accused of murder
The Perfect Daughter by D.J. Palmerreview: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Painting in the Shadows is the second book in the Alex Clayton Art Mysteries series by Katherine Kovacic, and also my second opportunity to listen to Casey Withoos narrating. It’s easy to forgive a few mispronunciations when the narration is so good, and her unapologetically Aussie rendition of the accent is refreshing and gives it an authentic feel. I’m pleased that I have the pleasure of listening to #3 still ahead of me.4★s for this one

She Doesn't Want the Worms! Ella no quiere los gusanos: A Mystery is a delightful early language book by Karl Beckstrand and talented illustrator David Hollenbach. Kids will laugh and learn Spanish (and so did I) in this cute book.
4.5~5★ Link to my Worms review with lots of illustrations
The Sympathizer by Asian-American author Viet Thanh Nguyen won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for fiction, so I thought War + Big prize = Heavy (UGH). But I loved a preview chapter of his follow-up, The Committed, so I bought this first book and loved it! Some brutality, yes, but funny, informative and thought-provoking.
Plus, it's easy to read. You don't need a thesaurus or a history degree. 😊

Having recently read the print version of The Reach by Aussie author B. Michael Radburn, I was pleased to see that my library has all three in his Taylor Bridges series in audio format. So I had Ric Herbert read me #1 The Crossing, and he does a good job: he had me sometimes laughing out loud, sometimes choking up, but always engaged.5★s
