Lori wrote: "Finished Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner for my Old & New challenge. Easy 5 stars. What a book and what a writer! I will have to ponder a bit before writing a review."
Glad you loved this one. :))
Angle of Repose is one of the few books I have read three times., and enjoyed each reading. If I am remembering it correctly, part of the book is set in Grass Valley, CA, which is close to where I spent my teen years.
I can definitely see myself reading it again, Terry. And yes, you remember correctly, it begins in Grass Valley. I love it when a book can make connections personally that way.
Wonderful to hear, Lori! That's one of the first books I put on my list for this year, and I'm really looking forward to it.
Congratulations on your progress and I'm so glad you read and loved Dr. Zhivago! I can't believe it's the most unfinished novel.
Thanks Sue! I was surprised to read that too. Goodreads has a long list of books that people start but never finish! I can see how some people might get frustrated with it if they don't take it slow and savor it.
Kathleen, I would absolutely love to read your review when you get to Angle of Repose! I'll be looking for it!Sara, I'm in awe of Stegner too. Maybe I will read something else by him this year.
Adding a few more for my Old and New Challenge with only 5 more to complete this one. A Town Like Alice by Nevil Shute 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5 stars

I've completed the Short Story challenge and have read 10/12 group reads.
I've got 3 left in my 2nd place or worse challenge: 1 old school, 1 short story and the long read.
Completed 2 more for my Old and New challenge. These were 3 star reads and chosen when I made my list because they were on my shelf. I've learned to choose a bit more carefully on this challenge for next year since these are set in stone for the year. These were two fine reads, but just not mind blowing. And that's ok.
The Gates of the Forest by Elie Wiesel

I'm usually very careful on choosing for the O&N, Lori, but this year I am having trouble making myself read my choices. Glad neither of these was a huge bust.

What a book and what a writer! I will have to ponder a bit before writing a review.
