Children's book. More windows on the outside of the house than on the inside. Kid(s) look for a secret room by hanging sheets from the windows. Read around 1969.

I read this book when I was 10 or 11, around 1969. There was at least one child looking for a secret room, after discovering that there were more windows on the outside of the house than on the inside. Sheets were hung in all the windows, then the children ran outside to see where there was no sheet, thus finding the secret room. I remember the house looking like a small castle, with round rooms in the corners.

Thanks, Kris. But the book I'm looking for the kids definitely hung something from the windows to find the secret room, there wasn't any window washing.

I don't think it's Samantha's Secret Room.

I think Solved, but I can't check for sure. A friend says it's Thirteen Elizabeths by Violet M. Methley, 1928. I bet it was my mom's book I read, but I can't find it on the shelf. The friend says towels were hung in the windows, not sheets, but other than that, it sounds the same. Thank you, everyone!
