#1 - First

Glad to have participate in any way you can manage.

This is an adult book gifted to me through a secret Santa exchange with another book club. I heard about it from a podcast, and though comics aren't my usual genre, I really liked this one. It was funny, easier to read, and in general uplifting. *4 stars*

I have not read anything by this author BUT I will now. I absolutely loved it!

[2] 2/6 Retold (retelling) In the Vanishers’ Palace (beauty and the beast retelling)
I didn't love this book TBH. The romance element was not crafted well. It was more of the thoughtless obsessive romance and it just didn't sit well with me. The world-building was fascinating, but never fully finished the explanation. It's not technically a YA book, but it read like one. 2.5 stars
[3] 2/16 Modern (new release) Concrete Rose
This is the latest book by Angie Thomas. It is set in the same Garden Heights community as The Hate U Give, but many years earlier. It was quite fun, but also serious too. The MC (a young African American male) becomes the primary caretaker of his infant son, so there are a lot of cute baby scenes. It was as good as the Hate U Give, but I'd recommend it. 4 stars
[4] 2/18 First (new author/new genre) We Are Okay (new author)
This book also wasn't for me. Not because it was poorly written, but because it's not in my genre wheelhouse, and has a kind of depressing element to it. It does thankfully have a very hopeful ending. I'm glad I read it, but I am not likely to pick up more books like it.

Not sure how I'm going to finish out the challenge. I still need to start a new series and I'm still waiting on a library hold for a reread in a different format.
