thank yoiu for this list i am now going and wish for every single one!
also, has anyone noticed that sometimes books don't pop up in the search but if you use google to do it and add netgalley after the book name in your search, it shows up??
Trisha wrote: "also, has anyone noticed that sometimes books don't pop up in the search but if you use google to do it and add netgalley after the book name in your search, it shows up??"ahhhh thank u for saying this, it just happened to me with Vampires, Hearts, & Other Dead Things and now I did that and I found it on netgalley<3
Trisha wrote: "also, has anyone noticed that sometimes books don't pop up in the search but if you use google to do it and add netgalley after the book name in your search, it shows up??"yup, that happens with me too >:(
lmao i love how the netgalley shelf app updated to be more precise for when a book expires (ie instead of showing 1 day it'll show x hours) instead of making the books download/read properly smh
human wrote: "lmao i love how the netgalley shelf app updated to be more precise for when a book expires (ie instead of showing 1 day it'll show x hours) instead of making the books download/read properly smh"it shows hours in ade too, right? and yes, why the hell is it so hard to renew a book!?! it took me soo loong yesterday trying to renew a bunch of books, but it's also possible it might be my phone's fault
technically it won't renew if the archive date is passed, but sometimes i have the issue where when i go to the next page, it skips to the next chapter??? like the pages don't load properly and it's so annoying smh
human wrote: "technically it won't renew if the archive date is passed, but sometimes i have the issue where when i go to the next page, it skips to the next chapter??? like the pages don't load properly and it'..."i hate it when that happens. also there was this one book, temper the flame, where it would take ages to load anything. i would continue with the book the next day, and it would take whole minutes to get backt o where i stopped the previous day.
hmm, yes, that's true (one of them didn't yesterday,) but thepones that do took me so long. the app would stop responding again and again
hey, does anyone get the netgalley newsletter? i only get the weekly checklist, but i have subscribed for the newsletter long back?
Trisha wrote: "hey, does anyone get the netgalley newsletter? i only get the weekly checklist, but i have subscribed for the newsletter long back?"Same, I only get the weekly checklist
Guys, so there's this book on netgalley, and it say I could 'read now,' so I click that button, and they gave me an attachment to a copy. But, the e-copy keeps saying error. What do I do?? I don't want my feedback ratio to go down if I can't review the book...
Protected files need the NetGalley Shelf or Adobe Digital Editions app to be accessed, you probably won’t be able to open them unless they’re social DRM copies, sorry :/
Oh, okay! Thank you. Sorry, one more question. Will this make my feedback ratio go down? If I can't access it, then I can't read and write a review...
Well, your review ratio is (# of reviews written)/(total # of arc’s you’ve been approved for). So if you haven’t been approved for many, your ratio probably went down some when you were approved for that arc (when you were given the ability to download and review it). It won’t go up until you review that book, or other books. If you’ve got a lot of arc’s that you’ve been approved for, chances are that just one book probably won’t do a lot. Hope that answers your question :)
jeeya wrote: "how do you get physical arcs?? is there like a website or something??"i'm not sure, but i think directly fromt he publisher
Trisha wrote: "jeeya wrote: "how do you get physical arcs?? is there like a website or something??"i'm not sure, but i think directly fromt he publisher"
yup, just contact them. you could also try from your local library?
Shay ☆ wrote: "is there a deadline to send in reviews for books that are archived?"nope, you can do it anytime! so, in theory, if you like miss a book download before it archives, you could just wait for it too come out and then read and review and it would still count towards your ratio! i think...
Aashi wrote: "What does archive date mean?"the date after which it is no longer available to download, regardless of whether you were approved for it
Trisha wrote: "Aashi wrote: "What does archive date mean?"the date after which it is no longer available to download, regardless of whether you were approved for it"
So it’s not the last date to submit reviews right?
Aashi wrote: "Trisha wrote: "Aashi wrote: "What does archive date mean?"the date after which it is no longer available to download, regardless of whether you were approved for it"

nope, reviews can be submitted anytime!
Aashi wrote: "Ah thank the saints! I had one that was archived tomorrow.. THANK YOU TRISHA!!!"No problem! :)
Publishers will prefer that you read and review before publishing date, usually a week or so, but you can submit reviews whenever, regardless of publishing date, as long as you’ve downloaded the book before it’s been archived

ahhh trueee thanks Trisha!
Hey Guys! Whenever I download an ARC pdf on my computer(I'm currently using a Chromebook) it's just a bunch a bunch of code :/has anybody else had this problem?

I do! It’s something like ascm or something so I use the NetGalley app
Maple wrote: "Hey Guys! Whenever I download an ARC pdf on my computer(I'm currently using a Chromebook) it's just a bunch a bunch of code :/has anybody else had this problem?"
ah yes, the ade debacle....you need adobe digital editions for it
Maple wrote: "Hey Guys! Whenever I download an ARC pdf on my computer(I'm currently using a Chromebook) it's just a bunch a bunch of code :/has anybody else had this problem?"
like Trisha and Aashi said, to read a book from Netgalley you either have to use ADE (adobe digital editions) on your laptop/desktop to download and read books, or you can just use the Netgalley app. ADE is hard to figure out, but Negalley has great pages on their website that should help you navigate it.
Maple wrote: "ahhhh, thank you guys <33I might try out NetGalley shelf on my phone instead!"
it will definitely be easier on the phone, but if you can't and need help with ade don't hesitate to ask me, i've been finiding a lot of workarounds lately, what with *cough* parents *cough*
ahhh yeah, the acsm file is basically a code to access the book in ade, it's kinda inconvenient because it doesn't work on a lot of devices properly/is a pain to set upif your chromebook isn't school-regulated/if you can access google play store, you should be able to download the ade app (i'm on a personal chromebook as well and have been able to use ade on here. but for some reason netgalley shelf isn't available, smh)
alternatively there's also a kindle option, ie connecting your netgalley account to your kindle device/account and download from netgalley to the kindle/app. i'm not certain on the specifics seeing as to how i don't use either lol but i'm sure there's some help articles that could prove more insightful :)

you're mostly right, but i think you can't access the kindle file on the app and only on a kindle device? i haven't tried it either so i'm not sure.
ahh, you're probably right. i just checked and the option says "send to kindle"; it's in mobi format.
human wrote: "ahh, you're probably right. i just checked and the option says "send to kindle"; it's in mobi format."yeah, and it's the kind of mobi you can't download to laptop and read through something like calibre, it will only open on a kindle
