They Both Die at the End
question
Some points I noted...

Okay so a few things I noted which Iv not rly seen anyone mention:
1. At the beginning of the book aimmee suggests how a piano could fall on Rufus’ head at any minute and Rufus responds “death by piano doesn’t seem like a high probabilty”. This mirrors how at the end of the book Rufus is distracted by Mateo playing piano on his phone as he ‘most likely’ gets hit by a car and killed.
2. It is heavily implied that Victor is the one who killed Rufus as he is speeding to see Delilah at the same location. However this is ironic as at the start of the read when Rufus and Victor are on the phone together, Victor says “But I’m not at fault for your death”.
3.Delilahs death is never mentioned as she did not believe herself she was going to die. By not believing the Death Cast call was legitimate, it is left unmentioned to the reader whether she actually died. This leaves the reader questioning whether Death Cast KNOWS people are going to die, or if death cast is the CAUSE for people’s deaths.
4. The day the book was published is the exact same day the book is set.
Just something I was a little confused about now:
On page 326 it reads; “Pecks homie swings at Mateo ... but he pulls back last second, like he recognises him-i don’t know”
Is this literal? Like did he actually recognise Mateo? Did I miss something here ahah?
Thanks a lot guys :D

So that part on 326, the guy, Kendrick O'Connell, that recognizes Mateo is actually the one where Mateo gave him his shoes when Kendrick had his Jordans stolen and was beaten up so bad with blood on his face. Mateo did say when he was talking about that part, that he probably wouldn't recognize him at all because of the blood and wondered if he (Kendrick) would ever remember him. I just absolutely love the way Adam Silvera wrote the secondary characters and how their lives somehow affect both Rufus's and Mateo's lives in some way.
The first 3 points you bring up though, especially the first, blew my mind. I knew Victor had runover Rufus because of the setting they were all going to (Althea Park), but you bringing up the piano got me thinking that physically he was killed by a car, but mentally/emotionally the piano killed him. Love that you noticed it!
