Neesie | 8 comments This was a book I read around 1967-1969, and the book was probably published 1955-1969. It was a paperback I got from a library in the USA. Do not remember it being illustrated.

The story was about an entire world that existed inside a cigarette package that was outdoors.

Brooke | 44 comments Hello Nessie, do you know what category this book would be under? Is it a YA Fantasy or Children's Fantasy?

I hope we can find this for you!!

Neesie, can you describe the main characters? Do the miniature people? inside the cigarette package interact with the people in the regular world? Are they aware of each other?

Where is the cigarette package located? Can you describe what's inside the package - and on the label?

Any chance it was a different type of package (not cigarettes)?

Neesie | 8 comments It was a fantasy book, definitely a cigarette pack. The tiny people did not interact with humans. I don't remember anything else. Thank you.

Teri-K | 305 comments Not one of The Borrowers series by Mary Norton? Some of the families in these books shun human interaction, IIRC.

Neesie | 8 comments It wasn't The Borrowers, but I will continue reading through the series and the Miniature People list. I'll report back here if I find it.

Capn | 3506 comments Any update, Neesie? :)

I was thinking of you when I stumbled across this very scarce book (WHICH CAN'T BE YOURS, because pubished too late in 1980):

Adventures of Brald

"Brald crawls into a root beer bottle and finds himself in the kingdom of Glent where he meets up with some interesting people and has many surprising adventures."

I have no idea if Brald is a human/humanoid character or not. I can't find further info, NOR any used copies. But like I said, 1980 (Vantage).

It just reminded me of this thread, and I thought a book so rare was worth mentioning somewhere. And, in the extremely unlikely case that the original info was wrong and this is a reprint that would have fit your time frame.. but I'm not holding out hope for that. ;)

Bonnie | 291 comments Are you sure it's a cigarette pack? That just sounds odd. Might it have been a match box or something like that?

Rainbowheart | 28668 comments Were there any insects involved, or just tiny people?

bookel | 4024 comments Question: was it illustrated, or not? Subject line says it was. Query body implies not? List for you to check:
