OK, so I recommend The Scent of Rome! I have already read it so I have no idea if that would count, but it has it all, an MC called Rome, it is set in Rome and the other Mc is Italian!Another is my Viper. It is set mostly in Naples but also other places near rome and a whole host of characters are Italian. :)
Then there is "The Savage Garden" set in Italy and has a host of important Italian charcters.
Last but not least there is Juliette Benzoni's Aldo Morosini series.
Of course anyhing set in ancient Rome would be rather profitable, too.
The scent of Rome is an adult romance and The Savage Garden had a romance sub-plot. and though Aldo Morosini is sort of a detective, there's a romance side line in the plot

January's Chosen Country: Italy
Read as many books that take place in Italy, or the characters are from Italy, or the author is from Italy/is Italien! Have fun! I recommend Love & Gelato if you're stuck!
Point Values: Only YA and Adult books count, any format/style! (the pages and point values don't make sense but just roll with it)
50-75 pages = 1 point
76-100 pages = 2 points
101-170 pages = 3 points
171-240 pages = 4 points
241-320 pages = 5 points
321-440 pages = 6 points
441-500 pages = 7 points
501 pages or more = 8 points
BONUS POINTS:
-If the title involves a city from Italy or has the word Italy in it you get 2 EXTRA POINTS.
-If the author is Italien, the characters are Italien/from Italy, AND it takes place in Italy you get 4 EXTRA POINTS.
-If only two of the things apply from above you get 3 EXTRA POINTS.
