Anna | 505 comments Lobstergirl don't touch this thread. I don't have any duplicates whatsoever - after a few years here I do know the rules. And you don't have a pass to invade my privacy. BUT, if you insist on persecuting me for having private profile, at least write down your "no private profiles over certain post threshold" rule, so it seems a little less arbitrary.

Anyways, the book I am looking for is quite old. I read it about 20 years ago, but it's much older. It's probably from before the scientists learned what the surface of Venus really looks like (so pre-1962).

In the book Venus was a dangerous jungle-world, full of weird plants and animals. There was a mention of a brain-eating worm, native to the planet. In one instance an unfaithful wife (or perhaps her lover does this?) puts the worm on sleeping husband's head. It enters through his ear, giving him splitting headaches. The wife then feels remorse over (what she thinks amounts to) murdering her husband, and I think she commits suicide (or hands herself over to the law?). (view spoiler)

It's not arbitrary. We'll be enforcing it across the board.
