SOLVED. YA Middle School book my sibling read in middle school in 2017. Two children one of whom has a disability and one who is a bully (i believe) xmas time. Spoiler ahead. [s]

My sibling read this book in 2017(for middle school ni) it sounded interesting so I read it as well in the same year. So basically I remember that there was two children one of which had a physical disability that meant he had little to no use in his legs so the other kid who I believe was a bully kinda character becomes friends with him. I remember the bully kid carries the other kid throughout the story. There is something to do with the dad of the bully kid i believe there is also a red haired woman who is made fun of in the book who is some how involved. The time period seems to be like the 80s or 90s.The story takes place near Christmas time and SPOILERS AHEAD
on Christmas day or eve the child with a disability dies of an illness(i believe)
There was also a movie staring one of the culkin brothers
