Joana Flores | 1 comments Fiction, 2015-18, girl in medieval times can manipulate shadows other teenagers have powers too. there is more than one book but I cannot remember just how many but most likely a trilogy. In the first book, she learns about her powers but doesn't know how to use them. The scenes I remember best from this book are as follows: She turns a corner to either start being mugged or sees a boy being mugged nevertheless she uses her powers, said boy ends up atop the merchant roofs. the other scene I remember is where she enters a dungeon type place and she learns how to better control her powers there (she makes a rose). I don't remember much from the second book but I know she gets around with a crew they also have powers. In the third book, she starts to get sick as using powers do have a physical negative effect on you. She realizes that she must go to this cave place and give back her powers. She was so powerful because her powers came from the goddess of death. In giving her powers back (she did not want to) it also took everyone's powers away. She dies in the process of her losing her gift. She ends up as a constellation ( i believe Ursa Major). the boy (the one from the mugging) doesn't die but follows Ursa Major so that he may see her.

Joana, can you tell us more about her powers (especially from the first book)? You mentioned she manipulates shadows, a boy is levitated? above the roofs, and she makes a rose. Does she transform shadows into real objects or moves objects/people?
