lex (lextirajoh) There seems to be a big issue with Marcel Proust's In Search of Lost Time series.

All volume #5 books are combined with the #5-6 edition (that contains two volumes).

Here is the series overview page. You will see that volume #5 is missing from the primary works:

This is the volume #5-6 editions page. You can see that it contains many discrete volume #5 editions.

Can volume #5 be separated from the #5-6 edition?

Many thanks

Leilin (leilinbooks) | 1787 comments We will need some help, I keep timing out but I managed to separate most works, except one (it is the most shelved and so I can't separate it from the rest: I would have to separate everything else one by one - I hope superlibrarians do not have the same restriction!)

So:

#5 (La Prisonnière)
https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...

Among which the first and most popular work is:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
--> and actually needs to be separated and combined with the following:

#5-6 (La Prisonnière | Albertine disparue)
https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...

Also this is, I suppose, should be combined with the rest of #5... thought the French title is not even correct, so it's a strange entry:

NB:
1) I also updated the series but it is not immediately clear right now because, again, the most popular title need to be moved before titles in the series list make sense
2) For all non-roman alphabet translations of the title, I could not be sure what it actually was, so there might be some remaining #5-6 within #5 for those particular books

Arenda | 26447 comments You can't separate the most popular edition, you'll have to separate all other editions from the most popular. (This can be done in one go with the separate tool).

I've separated all #5 editions from the most popular #5-6 edition, combined where needed, and correct the series.
(And also separated other editions that were also incorrectly combined and were not even #5 or #5-6).

And a general response: for authors like this, a volume number is never enough to combine, often books with the same content can have a different volume number, or the other way around: the same volume number and a different content.
