Just cleared an ebook - The Awakening by Kate Chopin. Fascinating novel, particularly given that it was written and published by a woman in the late 1800s. The prose is straight-forward, and the awakening of the main character could have been written in this century. However, there are certain racist phrases that definitely indicate it’s original time period. Worth reading. 3.5 stars

“There is no Frigate like a Book To take us Lands away” - Emily Dickinson

Just cleared another ebook - RomeAntically Challenged by Marina Adair. Overall, this was an enjoyable read. I particularly appreciated the author’s not about the basis for the main character. My critiques were that it started very abruptly and a bit confusing, ended a little abruptly, and could have used a little editing in the middle. I received this book as a free giveaway in exchange for my honest review. Overall, though, still worth reading! 3.5 stars

“Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people – people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book.” - E.B. White

Just cleared another ebook - The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo. At first, this appeared to be a straight-forward story around a sheltered teenager. A new setting and culture for me, so that seemed to be the draw. Then it turned into something much more interesting and complex. The main character irked me a bit with the angst, but given her age and the time period, it lent her authenticity. Definitely worth reading! 5 stars
