Popsugar - 2021

Just completed #3 (diamond on cover) - China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan. I liked this book much better than the first, probably because I didn’t have a movie with which to compare it. I recommend reading the book in print, as the footnotes in the ebook version pulled me out of the story too much. It made more sense in physical book form, at least for me. Enjoyable romp that helped me escape. Worth reading! 4 stars

No :) I only use your message number if there is more than one of the same name really. The important thing is to give me the number of books completed since it saves me a lot of time not having to go back to every original message :)

As long as you don't have where you're from it doesn't differentiate from the other Sheila. But if you would say original post 270 in your posts along with number of completed that will let me know which Sheila you are :)

Just completed #9 (family tree) - Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan. Loved this ending to the trilogy! The character development was really good. My one problem was trying to reform the grandmother character - it just seemed a bit unrealistic. Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars

50. A free book (I borrowed it from someone off my local Facebook buy nothing group)
The Snow Child

14/45
17. A book that has the same title as a song: The Last Dance
This could also qualify as a genre I don't usually read, since this is a space novel. It was actually better than I'd expected...
35. A book in a different format than what you normally read (audiobooks, ebooks, graphic novels): Maus II: A Survivor's Tale: And Here My Troubles Began
This could work for a few other prompts for me (subject I'm passionate about, book my best friend would enjoy, makes me think of someone (my mother is also an Auschwitz survivor, and it takes place in several countries), etc. I also used this for prompt 49. A DNF book from your TBR list: The Complete Maus, (I read the first book in 2017, but couldn't finish it. I found the relationship between the author and his father very difficult to read, even in comics). I only counted it once, though, since I'll probably replace one of them with something else...
The book won the Pulitzer Prize, and is pretty unique. Definitely recommend.
50. A free book from your TBR list (gifted, borrowed, library)Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder I must have put it on my TBR list when this new edition came out in 2019, but I was notified that it was now available free of charge, so I downloaded it. Would not recommend. Pretty poorly done, and was not at all tempted to continue with the series.
While babysitting my grandson, he asked me to read him a book, and he chose A Treasury of Curious George. He had me read all the stories, so I finished that book, too. I used to love Curious George as a child, so it was really fun to share it with him!

✓18. A book about a subject you are passionate about: The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World by Melinda Gates (finished 3/5)

Just completed #12 (seen on someone’s shelf) - Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds. Brilliant writing that makes every visual realized and every emotion personal. I didn’t think this could be as good as the graphic novel, but it is, just in verse. “[I]f the blood inside you is on the inside of someone else, you never want to see it on the outside of them.” Definitely worth reading! 5 stars
