What do you think of Anne Rice's seminal vampire novel? How about its adaptation?

Another movie I love. Loved the book as well. I feel the novel was able to offer more emotional depth and background information. I loved Tom Cruise as Lestat, he owns that energetic, nearly psychotic energy.
I really like the way Anne Rice writes about vampires like spiritual, other worldly beings. She gave them a lot of dignity as beings and their own psychology that I really enjoyed.
