Meet the SFFBC Mod Account (Add as friend to see updates)
It also allows us to be called comtesse déguisée in the grand tradition of masked courtiers, which makes us sitting here talking about books for hours on end feel a lot more mysterious and romantic.

We now have a new, collateral game for the forum too, I see: "guess the mod behind the message" 😎

Compare Results
SFFBC’s books: 319 (91 not in common)
Books in common: 228 (1.96% of your library and 71.47% of their library)
My books: 11615 (11387 not in common)
Your tastes are 0% similar for the books you both rated.
Which is not going to tell me what books I've read. It just means the books are on both shelves. =)

If you use your Read shelf in the comparison, then yes it should tell you how many you've read. Unless you use the Read shelf for some other purpose?!

Is this because you were fighting over who'd get to make the drag-per-sand (sp?) your profile pic, so you decided to share with a team account?

Having Drampersand show up more is a plus, tho!
Oh, and also it's because I don't want anyone following my personal account, but I post things people might want to be notified of? Like noms, etc. So from now on mod account will do that, so that those who want those notifs can follow and get them!

3 Ways to Compare Shelves:
1) Profile Page
2) Click on Shelf (ex Read) and near the top of the screen, Compare Shelf
3) On Compare Page, Upper Left Corner, Choose what shelves to compare.
I actually used #2 but I think using #3 is a more accurate count. I had two different results and #3 was more accurate. You can do either combo of #1 + 3 or #2 + 3 to get results.
Results from #2:
SFFBC’s books: 319 (91 not in common)
Books in common: 228 (1.96% of your library and 71.47% of their library)
My books: 11615 (11387 not in common)
Results from #3:
SFFBC’s books: 319 (183 not in common)
Books in common: 136 (3.15% of your library and 42.63% of their library)
My books: 4322 (4186 not in common)
Woo! I think I was at 121 the last time I posted in How many club books thread. Going by this, I'm up to 136. Yay!
If I wanted to be sure, I'd go count and I'll probably do that when I want to double check. ;)

I've said it before, but must express my respect for this again: it's what keeps the net connected!
(Quite anal about linking myself, too ^^')

I realize 2 is a small number, IJS that 100% of Finns I know share a lot in common.
I love the links!
I hate *doing* the links.

I'll be the sacrificial guinea pig. I'm sure someone else will do the same. Hahaha

edit: Added the word 'work' lol
edit2: This thread is so on topic we could use it as an example in a dictionary

haha! It is all mods who've come before, and when we pass, so too shall we join the great SFFBC Mods in the ether. Every where the light touches [the bookshelves] is the domain of SFFBC Mod

I feel you. Yet, personally, I tend to feel a post incomplete unless the links that could be there are there <:D Trying to be efficient and leave a link out will just result in it bugging you until you go on and edit it in... so I've found, and why I rarely battle the urge :P

Yes. We are keeping nicely on topic...
haha!
This is why it is good to have teams! I know my limits, and am glad for Anna to swoop in and fix the things I can't be arsed about, but which I recognize others care deeply about and I want them to be happy, while not making myself miserable.
Win-win!

(Must clarify, that the linking thing tends to bug me mainly in my own posts; none no-linking shaming intended *ha*)
Sounds indeed optimal to have differently focused team members to cover all the bases.

Oh, and I am following it.

SFFBC’s books: 319 (182 not in common)
Books in common: 137 (9.00% of your library and 42.68% of their library)
if I change my shelf to to-read....
SFFBC’s books: 319 (318 not in common)
Books in common: 1 (2.27% of your library and 0.31% of their library)
So I guess I won't add many books from the read shelf except for potential future picks.

That thread is super helpful, thank you!
I do have a small suggestion, though. When I'm reading a book the group has already read and want to talk about it, I have to STRG+F the title in that thread, because I don't know in which year the group read the book. That's not super invonvenient, but can we get a year tag on the bookshelf for books that have already been read? That way, I can go to the post with the appropriate year right away. It might also be helpful for re-read or buddy read nominations.

I'm not sure what you mean about tagging the bookshelf? Adding shelves for each year? They can be arranged by read date, so that should already be covered?
Also the mod account shelves have years, so if that's what you meant, look there! :)
Ah, I didn't look at the mod account, I only looked at the group bookshelf! In that case, forget I said anything. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. :)

*eyes dazzles in organization* So many links...
(Such an abundance of links, however, defeats any attempt at a modsquerade. :P)

Links to all group book discussions 2008-2021"
So. Damn. Satisfying! 👏👏👏 Excellent job, Anna!

I mean sure it’s not exactly pretty but it wasn’t supposed to be pretty :D
edit: Yeah, so many links! <3

What are you talking about!? It is beautiful 🤩
Just look at the neatness and efficiency! Not a wasted line in whole thread!
Organizegasm.

Happy New Year, Jemppu! *toast raised*

5 hours to go! :)
Hi everyone who is following this account! It's been a few months, tell us how you're liking it? Do you want more or less SFFBC action in your feed? What about?
You should be seeing these in your feed now:

- Polls open
- New BOTM discussion threads open
- Books that win polls (added to TBR when polls close)
- Books that we're currently reading (added to Read on the 1st of the month)
You could be seeing these in your feed:
- Nomination thread opens
- Reminder to nominate/second
- Reminder to vote in polls
- Rereads voting opens
- Reminder to vote in rereads poll

I usually vote for the last place book in the polls but I'm open to being persuaded to change my vote. Except... I often never know...
This year we're officially incorporating the use of the SFFBC Mod (this) account! This is a shared account for the mods so that we can each edit first posts of important group threads, and pass that information down for other mods in the future.
What it will do:
1. Start Group Business threads (like rules, RATB and TBRC challenges, etc.)
2. Start Nomination threads
3. Start BOTM threads
What it will not do:
1. Vote in polls
2. Respond to messages
What you can do with it:
1. Add it as a friend* to get updates in your feed when:
- Books are added to the group shelf
- BOTM threads are started
- Polls are opened
- Nomination threads are started/opened
- Rereads voting starts
- and more
* PLEASE NOTE: Following will not show all updates. Please allow a couple of days for mods to notice and accept your friend request.
Your feed must be set to Content: Everything. (And possibly also to People: Top friends and people I follow or All friends and people I follow. Try switching this setting if updates don't seem to work.)
2. Use it as a group shelf resource:
- Browse group books on shelves that can be sorted and searched
- Look at some yearly statistics
- For more resources, see Current Events
3. Compare books to see how many and what percentage of group books you have:
- Read (up to current month)
- Read (including upcoming month)
- On your TBR
- Several TBR shelves: Look at the difference between All and Read
Once you know your stats, go to How many of our Club Books have you read? to tell us about them!
Please note: This account is not monitored, so do not message it, etc. Please contact the mods by their personal accounts should you need to speak with a moderator.
