OK. But Dumas is pretty much the only classic author I like. :)

If you want them easier than those, I'd recommend you to start first with classic stories such as Heidi, Peter Pan... ;)

the bell jar by sylvia plath - easy read, on the more modern side of ‘classic’, not too long, good way to get used to older literature. unfortunately quite a bit of racism!
broken wings by khalil ghibran - poetic, short and quick to read, understandable vocabulary, beautiful.
the picture of dorian gray - good plot, long winded dialogue at times, easy to grasp message and theme, a classic!
one hundred years of solitude - hispanic literature! beautiful story, magical realism, u will need a family tree!!!
