Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. I'm planning to read that one as soon as January 1 rolls around!
I’ll probably read The Empress of Salt and Fortune for this one, as I have it sitting waiting to be read.
I might finally listen to my old audible recording of Salt: A World History, but normally I stay flexible on these things and see what my reading brings. I do read Joanne Fluke books--they are fun 3 star reads for me, so if she has a new one I haven't read yet, it may well be that one. Hard to say.ETA She has a new one, and of course after the end of number 26 I have to read this. I was so busy with an intense reading game (no intense games this year) I missed it. Plus it has chocolate in the title.
Bittersweet I am reading several this year from my TBR. The only book I have read by this author was The Thornbirds. Loved it, so I hope this is as good.
The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender - can’t wait to sink my teeth into this one! 🍋😂🍋
I am planing to read The Coincidence of Coconut Cake by Amy E. Reichert. It sounds like a light and fun read.
Completion Post:Just finished reading: "Sweet Bean Paste" by Durian Sukegawa and translated by Alison Watts (★★★★☆), it is a contemporary novel set in Japan featuring two outcasts in Japanese society: Sentaro, a former criminal and Tokue who was a leprosy survivor, and their drive to find purpose in life. It is a subtle, moving exploration of redemption in an unforgiving society.
Sukegawa's writing style, delicately translated by Alison Watts, is well-matched to the subject matter: a slow, muted movement that gently guides the reader, while leaving the unnecessary unsaid. It is an original twist on the odd couple genre, in which two unlikely companions find they have much to offer each other, and retains much of the humor that genre entails.
Sweet and Low: A Family StoryThis was an interesting story about the makers of the product Sweet and Low and all the drama about the business and issues amongst different parts of the family.
